The explanation is in the article.

Personally think it’s interesting, we are calculated to be really slow from taking a mark to moving the ball on. I think that reflects what I’ve seen from us this year, we are to slow to move the ball from mark/free kick situation and get stuck kicking into a flooded forward 50.

Our best quarters/halves this year (2nd half blues, 2nd half lions, gws and gc 3/4s) have been when our players move it fast from marks.

Probably also reflects that we have young list, our kids fret too much over the next kick because the instincts for the game plan aren’t drilled into them yet.
I'd be interested at seeing the difference in our ball speed between our wins and losses. When we're struggling we are really slow to move the ball on, which is likely partially due to our nursery of a forward-line, but when we're on we're much quicker.

Smith and Ross in the white tops at training today :think:

Seth, Ralphsmith, Miller, Brown, Mansell, Green all in black....
Thank god. Blight for Smith

Anyone for Ross. Probably Trigger as sub. Campbell to Ross role. Alger to Campbell role

Very tall backline, I don't see the value in changing structure to accommodate blight.

Blight in to play second ruck?
We were already tall enough with Trainor out on the wing. Lefau getting a couple of games until Armstrong is right? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Armstrong playing vfl is good

If be happy for lalor to miss Geelong

Imagine these three ins for Essendon Lalor, Hotten Armstrong
agree why waste them down at geelong dusty missed the cattery in his first year

True, but teams have had success by playing someone smaller and quicker on tex who hurts them going the other way

No Colina, Fawcett, Lefau, Blight or Ryan and the team looks much more balanced. Probably 1 tall forward short.

and sam toner on the bench if the weather is ok going to be some great highlights
raso,, hotton,, toner,, mcdonald and yassine all very exciting

Ross survives. Just another reason to hate tiger_tough the useless campaigner
Ross is playing a fairly thankless role as a half forward 'connector'. IN a struggling team with very little 'easy ball' at half forward he's doing a pretty good job. He's nowhere near losing his spot.

In regards to the team as a whole, for those who've played 5+ games for the Tigers here is where Ross ranks on averages:

Player rating = 7th
Disposals = 8th
Inside 50's = 1st
Metres = 8th
Groundball Gets = 5th
Hardball gets = 4th
Clearances = 5th
SI = 1st
SI% = 1st

I'm the first to admit he's not setting the world on fire....but we need to accept how difficult it is playing a predominantly half fwd role in a losing team.

He's leading the team in inside 50's and score involvements - so do we really think he's a player who should be dropped?

Cut him some slack..he'll improve as we improve as a team.
