That's where I see him. He's going to get games but not sure he can lock in a spot with a healthy list

He would have been waking up this morning to have a nice bit of road rash on the top of his scone. Should be scabbing up nicely later this week if he doesn't go with a moist dressing.

He’s a tremendous depth player which we might need to win the flag at some stage

But I still think too many are writing him off prematurely.

What if the club is basically giving him his "pre-season" back via time in the VFL? Would 2 months in the VFL not be at least somewhat equivalent to a mini pre-season?

Maybe the plan is to get him a few more games at VFL level and then intriduce him in the lead up to finals?

I wouldn't give up on Mitchell just yet. He's going to take some time to build the fitness base required. He's a big game player. There may be a role for him yet.

Reckon he'll play in the rest of our games at the G - don't think they'd want to risk him on the harder surface at Marvel and he might not travel to QLD for the Suns game.

He’s never asked about in pressers. We haven’t had anything really said about him.

I'm sure he'll get his opportunity when others are managed throughout the year, if not before.

He's playing well in the VFL, getting match fit & as long as we don't hear about a reoccurrence of his foot issues, that's the best we can hope for.

He got the coaches MVP again this week. The second time since returning. He's in our top 3 best players each week.

He’s never asked about in pressers. We haven’t had anything really said about him.

He just isn’t in our best midfield mix currently. We’ve had an even year on the injury front, but to this point they’ve primarily been to defenders and forwards. JDG is effectively the only mid we’ve had missing whilst others have stepped up. I think the only danger to seeing him again at senior level is if the club want to take a look at Perryman through the middle when/ if the likes of Steele and Pendles miss.

Based on what Josh said this morning on SEN about hitting the month after the bye hard I suspect though without an injury popping up we won’t see any resting until the Richmond match.

I don’t know why people are so against him playing,especially when we have quite a few out at the moment.It’s not as if we’re going to unbalance our system by playing him.We’re more likely to do that by playing kids who aren’t ready for senior football,or by playing four talls on the forward line while most of our smalls are out at the same time.

Being basically written off before even playing a single game in 12 months. Seems over his foot issues now. So lets see what he has before this board delists him. Hasn't played since Anzac day 2024 & we have 1 inside bull with De Goey missing. I think he is harder at it than anyone with the possible exception of Long & we need more aggression in the middle.

Yes, I'm not against Tom working through the VFL to get match fit and he is inching every so close to a AFL return, class act! It's funny listening to VFL commenters committing, 'Its not every day you see a Brownlow Medalist apply their trade in the VFL!'.

Fly will have a plan, he will want to assess Mitchell at some point in the AFL team, round 17, plenty of time! Mitchell has to prove he is resilient first!

And if he gets a game, gets 20+ disposals, 5+ tackles, 5+ clearances, and we win, how do you then justify omitting him?
