Ollie dashes off the halfback as well. But Ollie can turn around and get his arse back into defence quicker than Saad can. That's why I want to see Billy getting more time in place of Saad. With Ollie and Wilson running out of defence, we'd be able to implement a more attacking style of football.
Charleson is your man too

Keep thinking back to match and the role of Ethan Phillips, controls and patrols the back line really well. Not sure what the knock on him is but can’t see us hanging on to him for long.

He's probably the best VFL/development coach we've had with our VFL side for a long while. I'd be very happy if he just wanted to stay as our development coach. But if the senior coach changes, the new senior coach might want his own person in charge of the VFL side.

Development has been one of our biggest issues for last 30 years. We have been shocking and are now finally starting to get it together. We have the talent

I reckon Wright would have already spoken with Power about what he wants to do next year. You don’t let good people go

Our development GROUP is finally kicking goals and will need little or no adjustment Power, Ebert, Lonergan and Baker.

Our kids are finally developing at a decent rate and the skill level of the youngsters is mostly evident. After a false start playing Monahan forward, his development of late has been rapid, while Duffy is doing well despite limited game time to date. We have had a long term approach to the Irish and I will be surprised if we part with them early.

If Power wanted to stay as VFL coach I certainly wouldn't discourage him. A good development seconds team is important and something we've lacked for too long.

The key will be getting our AFL coaching ranks to be on the same page as far as game style etc goes so we don't have such a disparity when players are called up and suddenly are playing a dour defensive role instead of what the were doing in the magoos...

Reminds me of Dan Huston. Big bodied, balanced football who is a good user/decision maker. AFL ready.

Was surprised that we won after it looked like the Pies games style was more efficient and their pace would be unstoppable as the game progressed.

LC's best game for the year. Used it well and competed hard.
We definitely need to add BC to the 1s as playing 4 mids is running them into the ground.

Regardless of who's coaching next year hopefully we'll see a different look midfield with Jagga fit and firing and Ben C getting time as he should be replacing one of Crippa or George in due course.

Would look to start playing Cripps forward more with chop out stints in the middle, and if we don't believe we have a Saad replacement on the list then get one or start using a Charleson or Wilson more.

F Young should be looking to get more senior time too, the guy can hit targets.

Unfortunately this current iteration of Carlton won't get us to the promised land so lets have a hard look at the younger guys as our future.

I wonder whether Luke would put in his application for senior coach if it becomes vacant? Probably wont get it but he could get on the coaching panel for the senior side.
I’ve always wondered why Luke wouldn’t be stoppage or midfield coach in the seniors or even senior assistant

Players seem to love playing for him and I think he could add some match day smarts for us that I don’t think the current midfield/stoppage assistants have

Just saw it...what a great kid. Pumping up others around him for senior selection possibly at the expense of himself...well done young man.
The more games we get into him in the VFL, the better he's going to be at AFL level. Just look at Skull for example. He played 53 games and came into the senior squad and looked right at home. Despite what some of the numpties say, he's a good player and will get better with experience.

Slow, limited physical presence against AFL bodies, doesn't keep up with the pace of the action when stepping up.

Worse than S.Durdin, so I'm more excited to see Grainger-Barass in a third forward, third defender role.

DGB had a great game (kicking aside) and could have kicked 5. Skinny kid may just have needed some time to develop and regain his confidence.

Still skinny, but might be leaning into it now.

A good option should we want to move on from Lewis Young.

Still early days,

(Cowan) Carroll Wilson Charleston, if these 3 can become AFL grade players, the backline has the beginnings of a more modern speedy attacking rebounding backline, with promising foot skills…

Carroll Wilson Charleson Ollie all running defender options. I'd play Jagga off HB in his first year at times. Weitering, Silvagni, HOF, Newman as pillars. Can Boyd reach his potential? We have some talent and will add Dean at years end

Flynn Young looks a modern day HB to me. That run and raking Left foot aff HB would be a weapon

Love to see Cowan on a wing or even the middle. Tough, some pace and can kick it long to advantage

What i really liked about Cowan’s performance was like a few have mentioned, he displayed the run & took the opposition on much like his U18’s years, also thought his kicking looked better…

I’d like him to settle down in defence for a while and build his game off the back of that attacking style of performance, then possibly in time progress to becoming a winger…

Carroll Wilson Charleston all virtually still raw, but each showing some good signs of progress, particularly with the style types they are and what they can/could eventually provide…

Edit: Flynn Young could possibly play forward wing backline, worth maybe trialing him out to see which best suits..

Liking Ollie’s development down back, no problem with him given more time there, i believe it has certainly helped improve him but I’d like to see him eventually back on a wing, i think in the right system he could be a productive goal scorer…

I'd like to see Cowan train with the midfield over pre season. I've seen him play there and he is impressive. Big body with some speed and a beautiful kick

I want to see names like Cowan Cincotta Elijah Kemp Moir Durdin Motlop being trained to add to midfield mix. Add these to Cripps Hewett Lord Cerra Walsh BenC and the mix looks very very different and has all bases covered

The midfield needs an overhaul in terms of more dynamic depth and rotations, develop a wider range spread for the now and future, obviously that depends on the next coaching group and the new game plan systems/methods they apply…

There’s certainly a few options on the list to trial with, although we certainly need to bring in players the list is devoid of with midfield & forward skills speed IQ…

Kemp! 👍

You've also forgotten an existing midfielder that will play ahead of Lord. ;)
