At the start of the season, the pass mark I set was to arrest recent history and make the finals, the last three premiers having failed to do that in their follow-up season. It might seem a low bar but I felt that this would be a transition year, having not properly replaced JD and there still being a lack of depth in defence.

If we finish in the lower half of the 8, then that's only a failure in retrospect.

No idea as well. Collingwood is the game to see where we are really at i suppose. Only my opinion but Zac Bailey seems to be more consistent this year with the amount of disposals he is getting. Goal kicking maybe still inconsistent but it just feels to me he has had a better season than last.
Do agree that the competition does seem more stronger than last year though.
Yeah that’s fair. His first part of the year in particular before the bye was really good. AA type level talk but he has dropped away a little bit, more so as you say with his conversion. He has also gone back to trying to do a little to much like he has in the past, and he doesn’t have great awareness for that unfortunately.

I think if we finish 7th/8th and having to play 4 away finals, so in other words no chance of winning the whole thing, then getting knocked out in week one of the finals isn’t the worst result either.

We’ll get the best preseason into these guys who haven’t had a full one in 5-6 years now, as well as putting us into that middle tier group draw wise, so in theory shouldn’t be as ****ed over as we are this year with double ups etc.

Last year but only my opinion but i feel the competition is alot stiffer than last year. As we know on Grand Final day if you can somehow bring your A game then who knows what can happen but FEELS harder this year than last year.
Will these other teams cope with the pressure during finals....................who knows.
Good point.

Suns- Never played finals.
Crows- Last finals appearance 2017.
Dockers- 1 finals appearance in last decade, 2022 1 win 1 loss.
Hawks- 2024 was 1st finals appearance since 2018.

I still think we are a top 4 team when fully committed to win.
Just a matter if we make it to that 1-4 ranking come finals time.
Losing next week makes it harder though.
Application and consistency has been pretty ordinary over the last few years. When we really want to have a crack we are so good but so often the effort and intensity is down

:fearscream: That was dodongo!
Sorry, I always get you two mixed up for some strange reason

Do you think your opinion might have something to do with you operating the team?

Who's won more games and premierships than us over the last 4 years?
I'm lost with the first comment.

We're definitely the best performed side over the last 4 years. I think we could of done even better.

Pathetic effort, terrible result. Everything to play for, but the players didn’t turn up. Looking at the way that Collingwood, Footscray, Geelong and Adelaide put their opponents away this round adds further insult to injury.

We were the only Top Eight side to LOSE this week.

Did you forget Collingwoods last 2 weeks before today……….pathetic effort, terrible result. Everything to play for and didnt turn up twice…..WTF!!!

Ladder >

Magpies 60 - Lions, Hawks, Crows, Demons.
Crows 56 - Hawks, Eagles, Magpies, Kangaroos.
Lions 54 - Magpies, Swans, Dockers, Hawks.
Cats 52 - Port, Bombers, Swans, Tigers.
Hawks 52 - Crows, Magpies, Demons, Lions.
Giants 52 - Bulldogs, Kangaroos, Suns, Saints.
Dockers 52 - Blues, Port, Lions, Bulldogs.
Suns 48 - Tigers, Blues, Giants, Port, Bombers.
_____
Bulldogs 44 - Giants, Demons, Eagles, Dockers.

Lions, Magpies, Hawks, have 3 games left against teams in the top 9.
Crows, Giants, Dockers, Bulldogs have 2 games left against teams in the top 9.
Suns have 1 game left against a team in the top 9.
Cats have zero games left against teams in the top 9.

With the Suns having a game in hand the Bulldogs are almost gone IMO, plenty of room left for manoeuvring within the top 8 though.

We can still realistically finish anywhere from 1st to 8th, Magpies no certainty to even finish top 4 with their hard next 3 weeks.

And Collingwood also have the luxury to flaunt with their form and team because I don’t know, they didn’t drop games like we did against lowly opponents Melbourne and North or kick themselves out of games like we have completely down pat like we did against Crows and Giants. They’ve also won and beat up on teams like we could only dream this year.

Not sure why the excuses. Like last year (sure we got the job done in the most unlikely of circumstances last year) right at the pointy end of the season when we could gift ourselves an armchair ride to the GF by finishing top two we start dropping games that switched on teams don’t.

But hey, what would I know not being a real supporter and all.
Collingwood are currently under the pump this year just as much as we are. They can drop out like a stone the same as we can……gratitude is something we all should have given what transpired before Fagan & Co came along…..lets all happy clap.:clapping:

Not “a real supporter” just a “shit supporter.” ;)
