lol. Never question me again. have you not learnt anything.

Not after I embarrassed your entire supporter base with Luke Jackson and then Pickett. I'm not going to get into this again. it's like an amateur boxer wanting to fight the champ. Get a few wins first, then work your way up to the champ.
No one on bigfooty is more wrong on everything trading than you. You abused everyone saying LJ would go for 3 firsts and were massively wrong. No one said it was a forgone conclusion Picket would come to Freo either. Do better. Good news though. The only way is up.

I think he would be insane to go to Freo. A side that has Simpson and Walker waiting in the wings. Itd even more insane for Freo to want him unless they see him as a winger or something which I doubt they do. Itd be between Eagles and Demons for sure
I also dont think he's clear best 22 though turning the sub into a a 5 man bench helps. Should also in theory play ahead of Banfield and Worner though I'm pretty sure JL LOVES those two. It feels like a risky move for him though given we keep getting linked, i assume they have a clear plan in mind.

If we're after him I'd be hoping it's to play on the wing as it's a position we have very little talent in.

I'd be interested to hear form Melbourne supporters if they think he can be a competent winger at AFL level.
Been saying it for years we au t winning a premiership with banners in our best 22

Has shown basically very little when played up the ground, but I think he can be a legitimate A grade small back. Injuries has ****ed his 2025 so I wouldn't judge him on that. Still very young too, only turns 22 in a couple weeks.

I'd offer up a 2026 R1 and 19 for McVee and 23.

He'd be handy in our back 6 alongside Pink.

First round pick for a backpocket that has never been BOG?

A pick around ~30 would be fair given how poor he has been this year.
When's the last time Maynard was best on ground?

How many times did Neville Jetta get bog? Matthew Whelan back in the day.

Back pockets aren't there for best on's.

50% of first rounders fail. Let alone pick 30. So you'd give away probably our best decision maker (minus the brain fade tackle and 50m penalty on the weekend) and lockdown defender for a pick 30 which will likely amount to nothing.

He hasn't had a great year but he's still our best young player on the list outside of Pickett. imo of course.

Maybe I'm off base here, but from what I've seen if you're gonna move him up the ground, inside is probably the better go than outside. At his best he's more silky and precise than he is athletic or penetrating (no slouch athletically, but his silkiness stands out more so).

In truth I'd do neither coz he's too good at defending and doesn't have physical attributes that "pop". Maybe try to get him more offensively involved off half back first? Seems too skilled to be as uninvolved in score chains as he is.

No offence but anyone would be insane to go to Eagles currently.

Hes fairly under rated IMO. He'd play regularly for most teams.

Need to be either fast or skilled with ball in hand to excel as an offensive half backer and I don't see either of them with him. Seen no clear attributes to move him up the ground besides tagging roles. So for a player who is purely defensive either in the middle or backline, it's essentially a role player which there are abundant of lesser talented players willing to do all that hard, unrewarded work.

I see no reason why he's even worth a 2nd round pick in my eyes.

I mean he's a good type but he's not a guy you pay high money for or give up a lot in a trade.

You'd think WCE have more pressing issues at hand to try and improve (ruck and midfield) and you'd think Fremantle would like him but....within reason, as there is only so much he improves them and they have capable young small defenders already at the club.

Freo for a 2nd Rounder, and maybe a shuffle of other picks if Melbourne feel he's worth a little more. This isn't 1st round territory.

sorry, Freo fans haven't earned the right to my knowledge after I won the Jackson and Pickett value slinging fest. As well as Griffin Logue :)
This was your prediction on the Jackson trade: "lol Jackson is going nowhere. There has been no indication that he's ever wanted to leave. none.. he'll sign for a couple of years and then sign a big one for the dees."

I understand what you are saying, I just don't think McVee is the type of player that commands much currency in a trade.

He is out of contract and has had a poor year. If he pushes to leave I doubt anyone is offering a top 20 pick to get him.

I wouldn't write off the SA clubs. Allegedly his partner is from Adelaide.

WTF are you on about. 2 players chose Eagles over Tigers less then 12 months ago...
1. You guys are far worse than you were 12 months ago
2. I said at the time that Baker choosing Eagles over Freo was crazy
3. Jack Graham would have been borderline best 23 at our club this year and no one else had interest in him bar Eagles, who were desperate for some leadership

Anyway, this isn't about us. Any established player that has other options would be insane to choose to go to the eagles, unless they're nearly finished and want to top up their super.

Or they want to join one of the most successful clubs in the land with A grade facilities and opportunity?

Not everyone wants to sit in the backpocket at a rebuilding Victorian clubs sipping lattes on Chapel Street id suggest. Eagles are a good alternative to that. We know that because players choose to come to us fairly regularly

Disagree. McVee would be stupid to stay at Melbourne unless he is getting very good coin. If the contracts put forward by both clubs are similar it shouldn't be a hard decision. Let's break it down:

1) West Coast has world class facilities with state-of-the-art everything. But Melbourne players have to trek out for an hour drive to Cranbourne, or train at dog shit covered turf at Gosch's Paddock.

2) West Coast play in front of larger crowds and are traditionally been a much more successful club.

3) Melbourne can't match Perth's lifestyle. You can pick just about any suburb in Perth and be a 15 min drive from the beach. The weather is better. He gets to be closer to family too. With the amount of downtime AFL players have, Perth seems like better place to be than Melbourne!

4) Off field opportunities are way better. West Coast is loaded and their coterie group is basically the WA business mafia. If he plays well there he can be sorted for life post-footy. What can Melbourne offer? Scrapping with 10 teammate over the same SEN guest spot and hoping Gary Lyon takes a shine to you?

The only downside of choosing the Eagles is that he needs to board a flight every other week during the season.

Plus the small issue of being at the worst performing team with a terrible list. A competitive bloke like him, I can't see him being happy to sit in the bottom 4 for at least the next few years. I don't disagree with most of the above, but Freo are apparently interested too and they'd be far more appealing.

As for the Dees, they'd be one of the least appealing clubs in the country.
