Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

As mentioned by another poster earlier, I believe its going to be hard for Jack to turn back from the news that he's met with the filth and in season - although our season is pretty much over.

Maybe I'm naive and players do this behind closed doors all the time but this one appears a little different with Jack being a blood and soul type and obviously a third generation father son player and filth being our arch enemy.

Handy when you have a season ending injury and don't have to front up wearing our guernsey until a contract is signed either way.

But the fact that he is taking identical years and dollars at Collingwood reflects poorly on us - no other interpretation is possible.

One is that our organisation is so badly run that he is not only willing to leave on the same money, but also to act unprofessionally and risk trashing his reputation on the way out. To accept this, you have to believe that our club is rife with incompetence across multiple people and levels.

The other is that Jack is the one with problem.

Both are possible. It's likely a bit of both. But I tend to believe that the simplest explanation is more likely to be accurate.

TDK is being offered life altering coin. He has a duty to meet with Lyon and I don't think anyone at the club begrudges that.

Weitering knocked back a $1.5m per year offer from that mob last year to remain....so I reckon we could begrudge TDK leaving for 'life altering coin'.

There's a third - the club are resetting the timeline and committing to a few years of mediocre results while the list and footy department are retooled.

Jack's 28 this year, has had a raft of injuries, and we have one young KPD looking the goods and another coming in the draft this year.

He may just reeeeaaaally want a medal/flag. And if we're not in the window while he's at his peak, and we have young replacements who could supplant him by the end of this coming contract, then the decision becomes pretty simple. Stay, not get a flag in the next 3-4, maybe get moved on as the club comes back into their window vs. move to a club in their window right now.

Still a big difference between "close to" and actually doing it in all fairness

The original post was about our players 'meeting' with Collingwood. As I have alluded to in other posts, most players meet with multiple clubs in a contract year. It's just that 99% of the time, it doesn't reach the media.

If people knew how many of our heart and soul players met with Collingwood in the same way JSOS has in recent weeks, let's just say a few of our recent hall-of-famers would never have been inducted.
