Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
He puts pressure on the rest of the defence. If we replaced Moore with Howe tonight but still had Dean, there is no guarantee that we would have won.Not AFl standard unfortunately.Very good VFL player though, but not quite up to AFL standard. We’ve had quite a few players like that over the years.

Unfortunately they are drafting a better Dean in Harry a father and son selection.Spot on. I think that too. Our other defender are too worried covering for Dean that it means they are struggling with their primary role.
I would love to see Dean at Carlton.
No current season stats available
Very average player but the pile on has been ridiculous. Big Bill was similarly maligned but came good with some confidence and experience in the system.
He was poor but was not the reason we lost today
Dean couldn’t tie framptons lacesBravo. There's a lot of scapegoating here. Is anyone saying Houston is "so far off AFL standard it's not funny blah blah"? Because he's been worse. And Long?
The fact is it's a team game, and your strengths are revealed or suppressed according to your teammates games. Dean is a fine role player, about Billy Frampton's level.
Not only is he to small for a key defender but he also can’t jump, falls over on most occasions and can’t read the flight of a football.I’d love to know the selection committees thoughts on Dean. We’ve known he’s too small to be an AFL kpd for years and they just keep putting him there and he keeps struggling. Bizarre.

Apart from that he’s a pretty good defender.![]()
I will keep saying it- Charlie is not good enough at the highest level. I understand injuries have left us with no choice but please, let's not pretend he is even a handy back up when our other talls are absent.
I never said we can't play him. I said let's end the pretense that he is good enough to play that role to the level required. He's clearly a better option than playing one man down. What choice do we have?
If one of Moore or Frampton go down in finals, who comes in? Ilaroo Smit? No.
And if we’re playing a tall team like Adelaide in finals, and Howe or Maynard goes down, who comes in? Markov? No.
Charlie has only played 11 games of footy - pumping games and lessons and experience into him ahead of finals while others are less than cherry ripe is absolutely the least worst thing we could be doing.
What do you expect our selection committee to do - cross their fingers that there are no injuries to key players, and write the season off if there are?
We have to pretend Dean is a good defender and Long is an explosive playmaker. Otherwise you just hate Collingwood.
Might be safer to forfeit. Imagine dean on a player like Cameron or hogan. What choice do we have?

So No Howe = No Collingwood then? It’s a backline unit. When Dean went off, McStay went back. It was no better.
Without Howe, Moore does too much trying to cover two players and it exposes the whole backline.
I would like to see Dean more aggressive. He will struggle against Hawks and Crows forwards though.
