Deserves a thread. Collingwood offered him a 1 year deal on fairly mediocre money which has peaked the interest of Demons and Sydney who are both offering 2. If he does leave Collingwood get nothing back most likely as far as compensation goes so its a case of would Collingwood match a 2 year deal on tons of money for him or just let him leave?

I think he would be a good fit at Sydney. Too many tall lumbering types. Sydneys salary cap would be tight too but feel they could do a backended deal and get it done. Sydney could also back themselves in on a 3 year deal for and simply eat that final year as dead weight to get Collingwood disinterested.

In any case if he signs a 1 year deal he is deadset insane. His career hasnt been long enough to accept such a crummy offer.

Am hearing he is more likely to go than stay at this point. There is a big gap between offers.

He shouldn't have to leave Vic to get 2 years. Rebuilding clubs should be all over him.

Why would he want to go to a rebuilding club? He is exactly what the Swans are missing. Get Logan McDonald back from injury, add Mihoceck and the Swans are back in top 4 contention next year. He could take the money and chase success at the same time.

Might not want to move to Sydney and theoretically rebuilding clubs should have more to spend. Traditionally Sydney have not paid overs to get players like this, they take the Hamling/Francis types that no one else wants.

TBH i dont think that has worked all that well. Sydneys forward line is desperate for a more mobile tall forward and he represents a big upgrade on a position of big weakness

Dont really see the big issue with his age. A late starter to AFL level seems to have helped his body big time. I can see him getting another 2 years out of himself easily

I cant see him staying at Collingwood if Collingwoods offering 1 year 300k and Sydneys offering 2 year 1 mill. Im taking that 700k to move my family for sure

Checkers could also look at the likes of Pendles, Howe and Sidey and see that Fly isn't in a rush to retire ppl.

At his age give me a break.

(apparently) He's not happy with Collingwood's 1 year offer.

If another club offered him 2 (with an option for a 3rd?) on similar money, he might be interested.

Not suggesting clubs would want to give him 2/3 years, but if that's what gets him over the line (especially as it's not huge $$$) then I imagine a few might be tempted.

The problem is he is looking at those players who have had big pay days while Collingwood is nickel and diming him.

I am sure he is on decent coin.

The flip side is he could still be playing for Port Melbourne in the VFL?

But the decision is his. No hard feelings either way.

2 days ago H/S reporting Howe not happy and no offer was on the table for him. Now it's being reported that a deal is almost done.

At least 50% of these contract sagas and trade reports are complete made up bullshit these days. And that's probably being conservative.

Shows how little you can take from these Rumors

Agree but theres also the 50% where the manager leaks this to the media hoping the club ups the offer.

Again the last few days the narrative was Collingwood were lowballing Elliott with a 1 year deal on low money. Today the narrative is he has a lucrative 2 year deal on the table.

Also the Silvagni offer has gone from 500-600k now to 600-700k in less than a week.

They realise now it's all clicks and we can edit all our articles and pretend we never reported it that way to begin with.
