It's irrelevant if this draft or 2026 draft or even 2027 draft is average or has not many options or just bad overall and in all honesty it's just plain ignorance and stupidity to go off that as a basis to then state it must be more 1st rounders to compensate seeing as there has been countless picks in 2nd rounds, 3rd and 4th late picks over the last 2 decades that have been exceptional players providing their club actually develops them sufficiently. Example being the cats on that one. So a 1st round pick is just that. And no player at any point should be worth more than 2 first round picks and perhaps later picks exchanged regardless of whether they are a top 5 or top 10 player in the league and also regardless of whether clubs can now use 2 years future draft picks to trade. If Eagles want to trade pick 1 because they don't believe it is worth having this year then that's their choice however it doesn't negate the true value of pick 1.
The players available in each draft is absolutely relevant who they take 1 this year wouldn’t have even been a top5 pick last year not every number one pick is worth the same far from it , if they were offered nas for it they wouldn’t think twice about doing it
I think Port will get their first this year back from GC for their 2026 first.

Deal might be something like:

Pick 5/6 + F1(2027) + Berry

For

Nas + F2 (2027)
We won’t be interested in any picks in the 27 draft will be way to compromised being the first Tasmania draft, so would need to be a 26 first rounder there certainly wouldn’t be anything going back with nas in any deal either

There is no problem for Saints.
He's staying.
I hope you are right and love the optimism, but what would Nas gain by holding out this long? Im sure the Saints already have a range of different contract options that he could sign.

I remember Ed Langdon, Adam Cerra, Lachie Neale (even though he was contracted) all come out and say they hadn't made up their mind yet, but as soon as the season was over, they all requested trades.

The saints supporters on here are adamant at pointing the sole blame on his manager Ben Williams and saying its all his fault not Nas. As you mentioned, Nas has definitely been offered multiple types of contracts with different years and $$ that is guaranteed so I don't believe it's just the managers fault and he's holding out for more. He might he, but at this point of the season I highly doubt it. I believe Nas just wants to focus purely on playing footy until the season is done and dusted before making his decision and I don't believe he has made that decision yet regardless of some people on these forums saying he has and his team mates know etc etc... I call bullshit on that alone. Realistically it's still just a 50 50 decision IMO to either remain on possibly a 2 year deal at most or return to SA now and then it's a 90% port 10% Crows option.

Not sure a club can trade back their original future pick

How do Saints fans feel about potentially loosing this star? loosing Marshell then overpaying for another ruck that plays 10 good games a year?
Id be f-ing pissed

Just because it’s good faith doesn’t mean it’s a good deal.

Good faith would be either club exhausting all options which may involve trading players you would ideally want to keep to acquire the currency to get a deal done.

Choosing not to do that, isn’t good faith trading.

The prerogative to get a deal done doesn’t rest with St Kilda. If NAS was to leave it’s on the club trying to land him.
Sure, but if a player doesnt want to move to another club, then you cant force them.
If Rachele came to the Crows and said he wanted to go back to Victoria, then absolutely they club would include him in the trade, but unless that happens, its not viable.
On top of that, trying to coerce a player to leave puts a great deal of disunity in the playing group, especially if he is popular amongst the playing group.
Clubs will avoid creating disunity at all stops, as that will kill a team. Look at Adelaide after the 2017 camp.

Yeah think you are wildly missing my point.

I’m not saying for a second any player has to come to stkilda.

It’s Adelaide’s or Ports job however to create an acceptable trade offer. Be it players going directly to the saints or via other clubs etc.

If your not willing to do that and thst might mean putting noses out of line on your end. Then you cant realistically accept you’ll get a trade done.

The only way he gets to SA is via a trade. That will be the biggest factor in what Ben Williams will need to work out.

Saying here are 3 firsts that are likely closer to seconds might be your best offer. That doesn’t mean we need to accept that. Your job is to improve that deal.

I wish this was stickied.

Even if NAS nominates Port, it’s up to Port to figure out how to satisfy St Kilda. Not St Kilda to figure out how to satisfy NAS.

Once a player says they want out. Their needs become second to the club and Ross referenced this the other night using the example of Tim Kelly and Chris Scott.

Josh Carr in an interview this morning mentioned he’s excited for “considerable player movements” this offseason. Make of that what you will
