If we beat Melbourne there is every chance we stay 4th and go to Adelaide week one of the finals. Tonight would have to give us some confidence.
We need to belt Melbourne because you’d think Gold Coast are going to bridge the percentage gap with two games against bottom eight sides to go.

Well done Pies, lost another game at the selection table, Bobby in we win tonight?
Needed a small forward to grab an opportunity, our talls up forward were woeful.
It’s not the selection it’s Bobby himself, can’t be trusted not to be a late out then doesn’t play VFL because he wants to be with the boys in SA what bs is that. Trade him if he’s pulling this crap.

If a player lays on a ball time wasting time and is held by the jumper, hands are free to hit the ball out - free kick

If a boundary umpire throws the ball in three metres inside the ruckmans feet - throw it in again - Adelaide goal

If a player - Thilthorpe kicks the ball away after out of bounds - free kick

Let’s not even talk about missed free kicks in forward line to the Pies

It’s just bizarre!!!!

Are our forwards not working for each other any more? Why can’t we isolate anyone like we could earlier in the season.

We are better off playing the Crows in SA than Geelong at the MCG week 1.. All part of the script. Crows are feeble as ****, hung on for dear life tonight; was pretty obvious who the superior team was. They’ll be absolutely shitting bricks if they cop us week 1 of finals
If Pies finish 4th, they are primed to surprise Crows in week 1 of the Finals.
If Pies finish 5th, they play at MCG then likely MCG again against Geelong who could lose week 1 since they've been playing witches hats for 6 weeks.

Fly failed the sub test again despite parts of our game coming back
Why wait to the final 7 mins to use a fresh player
Fly just failed in general.
  • Allowed the boys to just bomb it to elliot 3-1 against all night.
  • Left Josh languishing in the defensive half on a night when clean hands and some zip in the middle was needed.
  • Let them have a free exit from our F50 any time we had a contest/throw in by leaving Cameron a kick behind - here's a newsflash Craig - if Cameron contests the F50 ruck and we win or half it then Cameron is not needed to give a chop out to our defenders.

That said - there'd better be an apology from the AFL, a bagful of horrendous umpiring decisions all against us.

Then for our boys,
  • Mcstay was woeful, someone must've told him Coxy is no chance of getting back into the team cos Mcstay is playing like he's ****ing comfortable getting a bath each week. Play Coxy next week, a way better backup ruck and a danger in F50.
  • Checkers, **** I've never not liked you but lots of dumb things tonight
  • Neddy, love the effort but you were costly with fumbles and poor disposal at key moments (after starting well giving off for the goal in Q1.
  • Beau, terrible, hopefully better for the run
  • JDG, **** I dont know, cotton wool until finals it is I guess

Geelong finish second, if we finish fifth and win through we get fourth (which will likely be GC). To be honest that assignment holds no fear for me either.

Absolutely cooked. Might as well have been ten goals down, we were never winning that game.

This is like the worst of Buckley honourable losses.

Coaches have lost the ****ing plot with selection and conservative shit tactics in game.

Forward setup is ****ed with McStay next to useless.

And not using the sub until halfway through the last quarter is the definition of cowardice. Too afraid of going against established players and taking one off to change things up.
McStay needs to go he's a complete myth and has been his entire time at pies. Offers nothing and refuses to compete or show a want to pay the price. Not a single mark or goal again and he needs to pay the price at selection. The MMM set up is not working.

We haven’t had a decent crumbing forward since Leon and you want to trade him?

Without him we look just like the Buckley years of dump kicking long and no threat on the ground.

Keane gave Checkers a bath tonight. McStay was also non existent. Membrey went missing for last 3 quarters.

Overall a much better team effort than last week.

Should have capitalised on those inside 50s but so very wasteful in the forward half.

How many marks inside 50 for us? …2? Just not good enough.

Geez those umpires… Just got sucked in too many times against us and stymied our momentum countless times.

However… If we get to play Crows again at the G, we should have their measure.

Lucky we backed Ned in, absolutely superb without Mitchell holding him back. At least at 46% disposal efficiency, it was a huge improvement on recent efforts.

Funny thing is with the results going our way, we could still finish 4th, if we can beat Melbourne. Although you’d think Gold Coast would make up the % gap playing Port and Essendon. Best result would be for Hawks to beat Brisbane and hope we beat Melbourne by more.
When you have to rely on other results it means your season is ****ed.

If we finish 5th and win week 1, we’d play the loser of 1st v 4th, so probably Gold Coast up there.

The Good

  • Cracking game of footy.
  • We’re back. Yeah, we lost, but we lost to the ladder leaders on their home deck by three points in a game that could have gone either way.
  • We’ve got a player in Parker. Did some nice things.
  • Frampton is getting back to his good form before he got injured.
  • Defensive game was good.
  • I’d always thought it was a shame we lost Keane. Not anymore.

The bad

  • We’ve finally got three talls in our forward line - but we very little aerial presence.
  • We need to figure out how to kick goals in a clogged up forward line.
  • Shame that there there were a few dodgy umpiring calls to spoil the game a bit. It went both ways. Didn’t affect the result but.

The ugly

* Not a lot.
