Not sure we should be dropping Lipinski

Right now I feel like a lot of the players who aren't in form is due to how we're playing. Why aren't we using Lipinski as the inside 50 kick like we were? Nurmous times I saw Lipinski on his own in space to be used for that kick and we ignored it.

Another example, we decided to switch up Houston to the wing. Cool right? Nice to try and get him up the ground and getting his hands on it and to an extent it worked.

But then...they tagged Josh and took him out of the game.

So why not switch Josh back to the wing and put Houston at half back and use him the way you recruited him to be used?

I think we're too hyperfocused on the individual players being the problem and not laying any of the responsibility on the coaches.

i highly doubt they will pull the trigger on that , Macrae needed 6 weeks of solid performances like he has been doing to demand a spot. would have been perfect to try him when we were "resting players" but planets didnt align for that

cant see him getting in with one week before the finals when he is not an established player. would be a massive shock

I can’t see him being selected either, but his VFL form since his return must at least have him in the selection discussion.

What we’re his gps numbers from Saturday nights game?
Poor I’d imagine, given that I didn’t see him make it out of a jog at any time during the game. And as for his half-hearted one-hand tackle attempts…. gee it was a bad look from a senior player.

I guess the coaches thought so too, given he was the one dragged for Allan (albeit very late).

I agree. Those one hand tackle attempts and general lack of effort from Lipinski were very telling and in sharp contrast to the other players who had a real crack. The other player who showed a lack of effort was Mcstay who’s just been in horrible form for several weeks now.

I think the only point to bringing on Allan so late was to send Lippa a message.
It was a disservice to Allan, who should have been subbed on at least a quarter earlier - he couldn't have been any worse.

Yes, McStay's contribution over recent weeks isn't getting much attention. What is now..... one goal over the past six games? We must really value his relief ruck work!

I guess the lack of alternatives helps him too. Cox has been atrocious this season, with career-low marks and goals per game. I don't want to see him play again unless we lose Cameron to injury. I know this won't happen but I've always liked Hoskin-Elliott as a FF. Has springs, is a good set shot and is a bit too agile for most key defenders. He'd be an awkward match-up, especially alongside the likes of Checkers, Elliott, Membrey and Schultz.

Might be time to play degoey FF

what i have noticed more these last few games than previously, is his running power through the lines. seems to have worked on it . covers the ground a lot better in link up play. just wish he had nailed the goal opportunities he had created for himself, could have kicked 4 the previous game, kicked 1, and had a couple of chances on the weekend.
Agree - he’s definitely improved - the Club have been patient and their faith may well be finally rewarded.

I can't see that working. Injury has hobbled him. Has (temporarily?) lost the burst speed needed to get separation and he's not going to take many/any contested marks. I think we'll stick with McStay. Let's all pray that he snaps out of current malaise.

I'm a fan of more Sidey centre bounce attendances.. he's fast to react and a high IQ footballer so he can only help us alongside Nick and Jordy/Long/Titch .. also frees up Houston/Jaicos for the wings with Lipinski rotating through

Watching half our VFL game this weekend only reinforced to me that we have to find a way for R Steele to come in. Either that or Josh has to play wing. Our gameplan was back in good shape last Sat for the first time in a long time, especially when the field was dry, but its glaring flaw was on display as it leads to a congested F50 where marks are impossible to take and spillover balls favour the defenders. Two remedies to this: 1/ play on, carry the ball on the wings when teams protect the corridor (which we did do in Q1 very clearly under coaching directive), 2/ lower the eyes for pin point delivery i50 (which we struggled to do but were successful a couple of times see Nick and Sidey kicks leading to goals).

Both of these things clearly appear to be R Steele’s strengths.
