AFL has said they will consider each case on its merits, as they should which is why Graham got a shorter ban as he immediately self reported and showed remorse which is different to the other club telling your club who then tell the AFL.

Graham immediately self reported? It happened in Rd 17, He was listed as emergency the following round and it wasn't reported until after Rd 18, 8 days after it happened...

The only investigation going on here is how to justify only 3 weeks and not 4 or more.

Sadly you're probably right.

AFL "leadership" seems to wriggle like a chopped worm when theres a tough situation to resolve.

I dont know if 5 weeks is right or not, the AFL tried to be decisive by escalating punishments, now this. No decision is a decision in itself, it's a failure of leadership.

It's not it's over the top. 2 would be fine but the AFL chose otherwise and now they have this situation with the team on top of ladder a week out from the finals. The never expected to get to this. And now they think the penalty is too harsh.

The only reason for a lesser penalty would be mitigating circumstances. These may well exist and be the reason for the delayed decision but no one has provided any information on that as yet.

Multiple teams have done it to this particular player. Last year Port Adelaide came out with a premeditated plan to take him out of the game in the showdown.

It's really not hard to look at the vision and understand the Collingwood players were on his case all night.

So the AFL decided to just add another 2 weeks lol. "The AFL says Powell's penalty was increased due to its proximity to Jeremy Finlayson's similar incident, which occurred a few weeks ago."

The fact that this is going into its third day when none of the others took remotely this long speaks to another failure of leadership.

If you are gonna do it then do it, how much can really be investigated, especially if Izak has admitted to it which all signs point to he has.

The only explanation is that the AFL have realised they bungled this from the very start going back to Finlayson and theyve realised how short-sighted they have been.

There are additional factors at play that the AFL have tied themselves up in knots trying to navigate in between all minority demographics so as to be so inoffensive that they've become paralysed.

No idea, but why are those the only types of slurs which would incur a sanction?
