I don't understand the reaction to St Kilda offering 2 million dollars a year for NWM.
He is arguably already a proven elite player and his skillset makes it a safe decision.

Worth every penny. Being overly frugal with talent isn't worth losing them.

It is a lot but he is a guy who can win you games so they had to pay it or someone else would have.

They’re now saying Rankine decision will now drag into tomorrow. Why?? Jack Graham self reported and still got four. Should be straight forward decision. Useless AFL

it's a lot easier to punish someone quickly when they confess to it and accept any punishment. the crows are clearly trying to do whatever they can to reduce the sentence, which drags it out

You cannot pick and choose when to enforce a penalty
Yes they can...it is a star player in a team contending, they have done it in the past. Zero integrity, still remember the Andrew Dunkley debacle.

Will be interesting how they spin it if they go easy or suspended sentence.

If it was a team outside the 8 it would have been 5-6 weeks and handed down on Monday.

Jack Graham also plays for the most useless team who is nowhere near the finals in the comp, while Rankine is a point of difference in one of the flag favourites and oh what do you mean the AFL would ever treat them differently because of that?

Yep I know they can Miguel. They also have the power to make positive change within the league and be more supportive. Make a statement.

These homophobic slur suspensions make the Willie Rioli punishment look even more ridiculous too btw

I have nothing against Adelaide or Rankine, I’d be happy to see them win the flag but this could not be anymore clear cut, it’s a 4 week suspension.
5 weeks. That way he doesn't play a GF guaranteed

the andrew dunkley case, along with greg williams in 1997, led to the entire tribunal system being transformed because the Supreme Court got sick of the AFL not having a proper appeals process, so I'm not sure how useful of an example that is. teams took advantage of the AFL not having a proper process, the AFL belatedly introduced one. almost 30 years have passed.

actually, it probably is a good example because there's no tangible difference between the AFL issuing a punishment on Tuesday or Wednesday, but if they rush the decision, stuff up one part of the process and open up the door for the Crows to get the whole thing challenged, well that would be quite bad. the crows have made a submission. it seems they've made a fairly lengthy one. the afl need to go through that process.

of all the things people melt-down about, I'm struggling to understand this one. The Crows don't play until Saturday, who cares if the punishment comes down today or on Thursday? Also...why aren't the Crows, who already continue to play a player guilty of racial verification who was a former captain of the club when he did it, the party that people are complaining about? it's not the AFL bringing Snoop Dog into this!

like, chill out guys

So why is Eddie announcing it? Seems unprofessional from the AFL but what else would we expect. And if true what Houston said wonder if the Collingwood players and their captain were equally concerned in the rooms about their player gloating in violence and his ignorance toward potential CTE he inflicted.
