What happened to all the tossers who were bagging out our own players over in the game day thread? Came in, spewed their vile bullshit and then ****ed off after we won. While it was a lackadaisical sort of game, some of the players they were maligning never stopped running and trying.

Yes, I stopped reading game day threads a long time ago due to that reason. Sometimes you need to let the cooler head do the talking as frustration can talk before the filter kicks in

The secret is to participate 'live' and join the rollercoaster,
But,
Never look back when you are in it, and never read it if you weren't doing it live.
Accept that it's a unique thread that rides every success and cstastrophe. It's a lot of fun mostly. Easy to ignore persistent shade throwers.
If you find yourself getting too hostile, withdraw 'til we hit a good patch.

You need to be mindful of the whole live group and try to be mainly upbeat. I often spiralled this year, so stopped participating for a bit. Also learnt to switch off the game if getting angry.
A lot more detached after this year. Not sure it's good as a supporter, but a lot better for my health.

Why are so many people spelling Frank's surname as Evan's?

It's not William's, Holland's, Hayne's, Cripp's or Acre's, so where did this apostrophe come from?

The stupid "woooo" in the song has died right off since certain players got injured (one sheepish offender last night). If next year we hear, "Good old Collingwood forever, wooooo", it will confirm my suspicions.

One of the great redemption arcs. After watching him kick 6.13 in the 2s at mid year he just didn't look polished enough. Now he is kicking darts.

Flynn is now showing what he can deliver. His team mates need to get on the same page and be ready for the 50m lazers I50. I was worried he wasn't going to be able step up (admittedly (take out Merrett and that was pretty much a VFL side) but he is showing AFL traits. Definitely deserves a contract.

Last was Billy. Just so confident when he has the ball in hand. He is the running back we are looking for.

I think both Haynes and Frankie needed time to adjust to their new team mates and our game style..

Both appeared to start the season poorly but proved to be valuable contributors as the season progressed.

As I said in the game day thread Essendon were spectacularly dreadful - but as was pointed out we fielded an arguably less experienced and younger team.

And having said that I was getting Round 1 vibes early in the second half - but our younger players rallied and recovered - whereas our older team in Round 1 versus Richmond bottled it.

Lots of work to do over the off season - hopefully we will improve, but as is always the case so will the other clubs.

Watched * last week without Merrett, (he is a class act) they were impressive against the Stains last week and were very unlucky to lose it in the end. Even found my self hoping they would win just to see what Ross had to say in his press conference. (Is that bad?)

With regards to Frankie, I feel he turned the corner in the VFL v the Pies?, he played really well, kicked goals and his field kicking was brilliant as per last night, he has moved way past Durdin and Fog. His goals from the pocket help open up our forward line and spread the opposition which create space and options when moving forward

I Detached, as you say after last season, as I just couldn't see our game plan getting us through another season. I entered the season with hope, hope for a change in tactics and forward entries, hope for selection integrity and in game changes to quell the opposition strengths. That all came crashing down in round 1, many thought game 1 would be an anomaly, but I just had a terrible feeling as what was to come. I didn't think we would fall away as much as we did, but the headspace of the group as a whole made us look amateurish at times.

Some of the online comments about our players are just plain nasty and though we all get frustrated, the spite that comes through, I just don't need. Everyone has an opinion, some I agree with, others not so much but I also learn a lot from what different eyes see. Most are civil on here and the mods do a great job keeping us all in line, some just like to throw a hand grenade and leave.

Since the calm & rational meeting I’ve enjoyed watching us play.

Vossy stuck with youth & we’re getting results.

We could have gone down the path of playing half injured money players, which never ends well.

Guys like Moir, Young, Carroll, HOK, Wilson, Young & White, there’s talent there.

Put Lord on the Ricky Mott post season diet, he’ll be good too.

HOF & Jagga we’ll hopefully see more of & we get the big names going again, we’re going alright.

Yup Frankie has surpassed Fantasia , Durdin, Fogarty and Motlop.
Austin has much to do, a good list clean out and refresh is necessary.
Most important salary cap management needs to be adjusted urgently with more skill and quality added to the list.

Really hope they get a kicking coach in, Harry last night played a very solid game, just didn't finish it off on the score board. To go from 7.0 straight last week to 1.4 this week is unusual. Usually when you are in the form like he was last week, that stays with you for awhile, like an in form batsman. Could have been BOG if he had kicked straight.

I put my hand up and admit I've largely disengaged from the Blues in the back half of this season in disgust (with some significant personal challenges and distractions also to blame). Didn't really even consider going to this game, even though I rarely miss a Carlton-Essington contest, and my son went with his friends.

Like the club, will dust myself off and reload with optimism and excitement for 2026.

What is always good in these "season shot to pieces" situations is when the coach plays the kids and we get to see some younger/newer players show their potential. I mean I had no idea who Frankie Evans was or why he was conceivably on our list earlier in the season, but his month or so form has been better than any of our other small forwards have put together in years. Bloody good on him for taking his opportunity, and hopefully he maintains the rage through the off-season and establishes himself at the level good and proper.
