No Munyard for the season is a huge blow

Does Chelsea come back this week?

Yep Chelsea’s back this week.

She’s actually speaking at a LGBTIQ forum at Adelaide Uni on Friday arvo, along with Isaac Humphries (36ers) and hosted by Ali Clarke

I was just thinking with the discussion about Rankine and the impact on the men’s team, I wonder how it will impact the AFLW side, given the number of LGBTIQ players in our AFLW side.
It would be good to hear how the Club as a whole have been dealing with it.

So not that it matters for much other than reputation, but Biddell was fined for staging in round 1, which apparently occurred at some point in Q4. I'm not going to bother to watch it back and figure out what it was for. It's only a $200 fine (reduced to $100 if she had pleaded guilty) but she must have been uhappy about it because the club chose to fight it via written submission.

The article on Tuesday indicated that the result would be known by yesterday, but I haven't seen anything yet.

They’re waiting for more evidence and to consult Snoop Dogg and will provide an answer in 4-6 weeks 😂

You'd want to fight it because second and subsequent offences cost a lot more. Plus, camera angles may not be able to prove there was no contact, or the reaction was exaggerated.

Sunday match so only the squad is known but looks like some significant changes already.

Munyard out, obviously. Charlton also out with hamstring awareness. And Ewings has been omitted, which is fair enough.

Randall the obvious in, plus two more off the extended bench of SLT, Boyle-Carr, Mueller, Kustermann and Smith.

My guess is it will be SLT and Kustermann in.

It will certainly show what Clarke is still thinking if he automatically brings Thompson back straight away… I imagine he will, don’t think we’ll see selections for the future (like Boyle-Carr) for a few weeks yet.

If they do bring Thompson in she should be put back up forward at the very least to avoid her slow/poor decision making these days from causing damage higher up the ground… much like Hatchard, put them forward to avoid their disposal mistakes hurting the team.

So are they admitting the decision for Ewings to play last week now was wrong and premature? Or is this unfortunately something new that has come up about this week with her that’s led to this omission?

Charlton is really becoming a worry, yet another injury interrupted year looks to be in the offing, missed the Melbourne practice match with general soreness now this game with hamstring soreness. Does make you question if her inability to seemingly stay in a game for 4 quarters is positionally reliant like I’ve always thought in the past or if it is actually more body/conditioning related.

Her inability to fully come on as a player and be reliably dominant has probably hampered the club’s ability to fully bridge the gap between the AFLW generation transition that we’ve seen in the past couple of seasons.

The AFL has a poor record defending staging. It's just most mens players don't bother challenging it. Mostly the tribunal just takes the player's word if the allegation is exaggeration.

Ewings is listed as omitted, so I assume they didn't like what they saw.

I guess it's worth mentioning the players on the extended bench who did play last week, which are Boileau, Martin and Cronin. I personally thought Boileau showed something, and Cronin is worth persisting with. Martin, I'm not sold on at all, but I'd be surprised to see her go out when we've already lost Munyard and Charlton.

What is our midfield like if we put Hatchard and SLT forward?

Do we put Randall in there? You'd have to think the ideal world is to be giving the minutes to someone who has a lot of upside and isn't Marinoff/Hatchard/Randall.

Like Charlton...

I guess at least she's not injured, injured and it should just be a week or so.

As much as I prefer Randall down back, we probably need her forward again.

Marinoff and J Allan are obviously locks in the midfield. We played Boileau there last week. If Hatchard was moved forward, I'd give Goodwin the remaining spot for now, with Kustermann coming in off the bench as needed. At this stage I'd leave Newman and N. Kelly on the wing, and let Rasheed spend most of her time ahead of the ball.

Alternatively, give Martin another go in there as a specialist stoppage mid and see if she still has any value in that role. That was where she was playing when she was actually contributing to the side.

Pretty sweeping changes! Good. Time to make a statement and see what we've got on the list.

Hopefully Boyle-Carr can make a fist of it. I thought she showed something last year.

And fingers crossed Mueller can get back to the form she had a couple of seasons ago.

Not sure if we should make anything of it, but Rasheed is named in the centre.

Probably still at the stage of just hoping that Clark actually gives Boyle-Carr more than a handful of minutes on the ground.

Another soft tissue injury for Sarah Allan this time a quad, a real worry given the hamstring a couple of years ago really hampered her. Replaced by Cronin.
