I reckon these extra points are going to make it hard for the ex-GR clubs to recruit.
Funny how the LV president is saying how happy he is for Macorna to join, but the CM board have said Fk-all

Its fair, if you want to step up and play cmfl, then you do it on the provision your club is strong enough without poaching existing players within the league.

Id still assume ex juniors will be 1 point though.

Just means, the clubs joining need to recruit from North central, gv, sunraysia, Bendigo and heathcote and further.

Looks like murrabit will have some bfl talent and perhaps some bridgy guys if they win the flag this year too

And I think the reality is maybe hay can make the jump with ultima, but the other 4 are great community clubs, they are losing what makes them good clubs by going into the cmfl. The 5 needed to stay together and go under picola, work on getting Mathoura, deni rovers and one more team into their division and not worry about trying to find more players to play up a level. They'd hwve 4ths and thirds play

They only need to look at strong picola clubs try the Murray league to see it doesnt work. Locky nearly ruined the club by going in the Bendigo footy league.

Or just give them more than sufficient team points in the beginning. The problem shouldn't be them getting players from the cmfl, but the cmfl players they had going back to their home club.

Why should the the 5 grfl clubs play on 50 points for example, the clubs should have enough 1 point players. None should be above 46. Nully didnt get extra points going to the north central. Its such a bad ill conceived idea, the 4 clubs feel like this is the only choice. The board didnt have a viable alternative, the Loddon Valley has no fourths, 6 thirds teams. Its not a great fit for the clubs as they'd lose juniors. There was no help by the board to help the picola situation, as they aren't affiliated. There simply isn't enough people in Swan hill and kerang to have 16 clubs field 5 grades of footy and what 8 grades of netball and have no other real alternative but play in the same league

How many now go back to their junior club from the cmfl to golden rivers? There isn't many. Or are you suggesting guys from the grfl go back to their junior cmfl club?

The review was reactive to Ultima wanting to leave and gave the not so subtle impression that the intended outcome was for numerous clubs to fold or merge .
The 4 GR clubs have been sold the pipe dream that the CM will announce a split no later than June 2026 for the 2027 season .
Why would macorna go back? It'll be a 4 team league, theres bugger all chance of that happening, and why would the league raise the points for poaching players within the league? Id say its lip service

My understanding is they have been sold that the CM will be split into two comps of equsl number of teams .
I assume that’d mean the 5 gr clubs ( including ultima , not Macorna and other cm clubs would be in one comp ) .
I just wonder why they wouldn’t have just gone to that for 2026 if that is the long term intent and they may have kept Macorna .

Why not just keep the Golden Rivers if they are going to split CM out into 2 comps?

The GR clubs have been told this but they haven’t said anything about it to the CM clubs

It cant happen, if you look at Swan hill as the bottom side in senior footy, they are far too strong of a club to be playing against gr clubs. Toooleybuc seniors will play finals, they are a 12 goal better side than any gr side. Boga has incredibly strong juniors, Balranald always have incredible senior sides every 5 years, I cant see any of the established existing clubs putting their hand up to play in the lower division. The board cant force them either and I think ultima for their longevity want to play against the cmfl sides.

The fact that none of the central murray clubs dont know, would be alarm bells for the 4 clubs, as I think the pressure will be on to find a merger or shut up shop

Why should they? Because the board has given them donuts in the way of leadership and with what is effectively the league collapsing they're now also punishing them with extra points per player if they wanted to try to get a couple of fringe senior players like they had been. I mean, they wouldn't do it and all that but I wouldn't care if they had it during the transition. And yeah for me it'd be interesting if many go from the grfl back to their cmfl club. Whether they stay for opportunity or back home so they're not playing against them. And if they stay 1 point or get slugged the extra one

They have to still be 1 point. Its in place so that there's no dog eat dog of clubs going for the same players. Its both ways too.

Macorna have gone Loddon Valley as they recognise theyre a community club and are playing in a similar comp.

You cant put your hand up to go up and raid clubs already within the league. That makes the league weaker and all clubs weaker.

Hay might be okay, they recruit outside of the cmfl.

I dont think its any of the other 3 clubs best interest long term to come into the league

Im tipping raiders in the elimination final, they've had nyahs measure all year, even when they had a heap out they pushed them, reckon nyah would have preferred to play tolleybuc

Loddon Valley clubs voted 9-0 in favour of adding Macorna to the league last night. Needs afl approval but looks done, will be interesting to see if Wandella or Murrabit look to go there after a season in CM
