Reckon thr fact Dow has been told to wait for a contract rests on whether Sonise is on the list imo.

Rather Dow given he looks like he cares every time he plys and cracks in. Sonsie just looks like he just goes through the motions a lot of the time.

What a shit post, how the hell would you know the role he’s being asked to play. If Sonsie was able to play the role he was outstanding at as a junior, would he outperform Dow? I’m guessing he would, easily, but keep doubting him. He will be a good player imo. So tired of the haters bagging one of our own. Back him in, he’s got the talent, imo

Purely and simply, Sonsie would not be in the AFL side if Lalor, Mcauliffe or Dow were not injured. He got lucky.

Sonsie always does well at VFL level, earns a recall and then when he gets extended game time looks complacent. For a player that has been fighting for his career this year, he doesn't look like he has any urgency. Maybe it's just who he is as a player, but with what we have seen at exposed AFL level, Dow has contributed more and looked solid before his injury. He has more strings to his bow than Sonsie. Sonsie has been backed in time and time again and for a player with supposedly elite skills, misses targets far too often. His defensive efforts also leave a lot to be desired.

Dow is superior to Sonsie in nearly every single stat/metric that can be measured.

And Dow wouldn't have got any games if Prestia, Hotton and McAuliffe were fit.....

You mean besides marks, goals, i50s, uncontested possessions, coaches votes, clangers, marks i50, score involvements and meters gained?

Sonsie has been FAR superior to Dow at VFL level too. Not to mention Dow has an extra 2 seasons on him...

if it came down to it...
one stays - one goes
stay - Dow
goes - Sonsie

Sonsie can play wing, hf or midfield. Dow can only play midfield.

We already have Hotton, Smillie, McAuliffe and Lalor who need midfield time, plus pick 2, pick 3 and Kellaway incoming....

And Sonsie plays none of those roles as well as Dow does as a midfielder.

Sonz has the ability to really impact games. he has started to do that more. But gets played out of position - for whatever reason.

Dow is a solid B grade mid - and that's that.

You'd really need to know the psychology of the players and our future plans to develop our mids to know what we should do.

If Hopper does move then you'd reckon both would stay. Depending on whether we get someone else in.

Guys, guys, relax, take a deep breath. If Dow and Sonsie are still in the team next season, we are going nowhere, so don't worry about who is the better of the 2.
And where exactly are we "Going" next season anyway?

We will be bottom 3 regardless of Dow and Sons.

It's funny the random debates that spring up around here but I'll join in.
Both have their moments but neither consistent enough so far.
One is mostly inside while the other is mostly outside.
Both could play as the lowest paid 21st/22nd type role players in a gun team imo.
If it's one or the other I'll take Sonsie as we have enough inside mids.

He’s got talent in your opinion! Do you watch games with with one eye closed? He’s a timid spud who will never be any more than a fringe player and list clogger.
