I just can't help but wonder how either desperate or foolish or selfish you had to be to support this idiot in the first place.

This implosion was inevitable. The battle lines between Maga and Project 2025 were being drawn up 18 months ago. Steve Bannon openly stated there would be a battle to the death essentially for Trumps support.

To have backed him a second time around with obvious mental and physical health issues, his narcissistic sociopathic nature, his outright lies, his naked self interest and greed, having all been previously displayed and warned about just makes me shake my head.

Now he's unleashed.

This Epstein issue is all it took (and lets face it we know why) for him to cut ties. Self preservation above anything else and allegiances are cut. He's essentially spat in the face of a huge portion of his supporter base to save his own arse - surprise surprise. Watch him lash out at anyone or thing that looks at him sideways from here on out.

The US empire crumbles a little more every day. F*** me. There's 3 1/2 years of this shit still to go....

Good onya Bob. Might not be on the same side of politics as Bob but I respect a politician acting with courage of his convictions rather than kowtowing to foreign imperialists like King Chuck and his minions. Hope he tells that plutocracy on the other side of the Atlantic to go jump as well.
 
So while the orange meme tries to make out the Epstein shit was created by Obama he quietly goes and cuts funding and sacks workers from the state department that are (were) responsible for trying to stop human trafficking!

Speaking of immigration, is there a department that handles numbers based on economic triggers? Does anyone have any idea how it works. i.e. our current GDP is this, we build houses / units at this rate, the job rate / unemployment rate is x, the cost to the tax payer per head works out to this, and the magic formula means we currently accept 50,000 immigrants per year etc etc.

Or is it more like the AFL's formula for free agency compensation?

I would have liked going to the rally in Melbourne today, just so I could wave a 'say no to the bear tax' banner.

I don't understand what the message is that having an ex Premier stand amongst world leaders sends... although nothing happens by accident with Xi. If the Maga cultists think Trump plays Chess then Xi plays a game yet to be invented. But having Andrews stand there is like a pre-schooler standing in the seniors photo.

Personally I don't see China as the big bad enemy that others do. It makes no sense on so many levels, and I suspect a huge part of the rhetoric over the last 30 years is driven in a very large part by the US military market needing a fallback bad guy behind the Arabs. Scott Morrisons meaningless utterings recently provide more evidence of that.

The bigger issue is China's tacit support of rouge regimes like Putin and Kim. The reality is that a huge part of that is driven by trade.

The power play between China and the US is the thing that creates this idiotic tension and countries choosing sides. And there's no doubt there's been a power shift through nothing other than Trumps brainless economic agenda. The US is the more likely at this point to do something stupid which is not something most saw coming.

The impotency of the rest of the world is the questionable thing. Gaza is proving how difficult it is to bring a rouge country back into line. If all of this Murdoch beat up about China being this unstable threat plays out, how long does the rest of the world stand by and watch??
 
He runs a business which connects Chinese business people with Australians for investment opportunities. So shaking hands with the big dog probably helps his business.

He’s just trying to make oodles of cash.
 
Our politicians just have no shame at all for what they're doing to his country. They have no accountability because our media is going along for the ride. We have no common sense in government and nobody with the ticker to make hard decisions that need to be made. They keep coming up with distraction after distraction to keep the masses fooled.

Yeah you are right but it makes no sense. Xi has a businessman in a photo of leaders? Nah, he knew the publicity this would stir here... and around the world, by having an Aussie there. It was calculated.

I don't doubt Andrews lapped up the attention and was happy to oblige because he's naive and not the sharpest tool but he's not in that pic cause he's a good bloke.
