I could listen to Hoyne for hours. That segment on SEN is brilliant. You're conflating how CD rank players with their analysis.
Their analysis and metrics for success are time and again proven accurate.
Hawks can't win without them they are forced to roll the dice.
Watch the excuses roll in if they lose. We had underdone/injured players, had to travel interstate the first two weeks, umpires and AFL hate us and love the Cats etc.Yup.

Almost tempted to tag nick watson and newcombe.
If those two struggle to influence their system will collapse
Yeah, it's worked for them in the past. But historical results mean nothing when the ball is bounced.Seems hawthorn love trying to claim the underdog we have nothing to lose and no pressure mantra against geelong in finals.
Was discussed on SEN in the weekly segment with Hoyne / Edmund / HealyAlmost tempted to tag nick watson and newcombe.

I just looked at his numbers and his second half of the year has seen him getting high disposal numbers. The exception being last week against the Crows where he had only 11. I can't recall him going off injured? Did the Crows put work into him? He had 28 the week before against GWS. Very damaging at his best with ball in hand.Think Impey is a more important shutdown job than Watson. Watson gets the product of the work up the ground. Shut Impey down and the Hawks d50 drive largely evaporates.
Well, we have made an excuse for last years prelim. We just haven't told anyone what it was.Watch the excuses roll in if they lose. We had underdone/injured players, had to travel interstate the first two weeks, umpires and AFL hate us and love the Cats etc.
Then you can guarantee they will say this: "they still can't beat us in Grand Finals."
The goal posts will have moved from "they can't beat us in cut throat finals" to the above. You can just picture it.
Victory would be so sweet.
In the modern footy world where there is a statistic on everything, there is still only one that matters - the scoreboard at the end of the game.Well, we have made an excuse for last years prelim. We just haven't told anyone what it was.
Prelims are clutch. Plenty of things can go wrong.

That and calf injuries, hamstrings, concussion, suspensions. Oh and fines for flipping the bird.In the modern footy world where there is a statistic on everything, there is still only one that matters - the scoreboard at the end of the game.
We've been here so often that there's no 'holding up' for me.How's everyone holding up?
Thankfully I have a gig to watch tonight to distract me for a bit.
Feeling pretty chill, can't wait for Friday, feel like we're primed and going to give it everything.
Go Cats!
No point putting energy into something out of your control imo ..full confidence in the club and Scott to do what is needed to get into the GFHow's everyone holding up?

Prelims are always fun.
I sent a message to a couple of mates at 3/4 time 2 weeks ago. (non Geelong supporters)
"Anyone else get fatigue with their team making a prelim all of the time?"![]()
Just remember at the end of the day, it's a bunch of blokes kicking a pigskin around a park. How's everyone holding up?
