Watch the excuses roll in if they lose. We had underdone/injured players, had to travel interstate the first two weeks, umpires and AFL hate us and love the Cats etc.

Then you can guarantee they will say this: "they still can't beat us in Grand Finals."

The goal posts will have moved from "they can't beat us in cut throat finals" to the above. You can just picture it.

Victory would be so sweet.

Almost tempted to tag nick watson and newcombe.

If those two struggle to influence their system will collapse

Think Impey is a more important shutdown job than Watson. Watson gets the product of the work up the ground. Shut Impey down and the Hawks d50 drive largely evaporates.

Seems hawthorn love trying to claim the underdog we have nothing to lose and no pressure mantra against geelong in finals.
Yeah, it's worked for them in the past. But historical results mean nothing when the ball is bounced.

Can't see how it helps them or further motivates them. All the motivation they need is a GF spot being up for grabs.

If anything, this mindset might possibly indicate Mitchell knows they're up against it. But I would have thought they would be reasonably confident going into the game, as we would be.

Was discussed on SEN in the weekly segment with Hoyne / Edmund / Healy

Tag Newcombe Gunston Watson. Those three are responsible for setting up Hawthorn wins. Suggested MOC for Newcombe (bigger body) Oisin to the dwarf, and whoever for Gunston

I just looked at his numbers and his second half of the year has seen him getting high disposal numbers. The exception being last week against the Crows where he had only 11. I can't recall him going off injured? Did the Crows put work into him? He had 28 the week before against GWS. Very damaging at his best with ball in hand.

Well, we have made an excuse for last years prelim. We just haven't told anyone what it was.

Prelims are clutch. Plenty of things can go wrong.

Adel were so woeful it didn’t really matter.

How's everyone holding up? 😆

Thankfully I have a gig to watch tonight to distract me for a bit.

Feeling pretty chill, can't wait for Friday, feel like we're primed and going to give it everything.

Go Cats!

We've been here so often that there's no 'holding up' for me.
Prelims are always fun.

I sent a message to a couple of mates at 3/4 time 2 weeks ago. (non Geelong supporters)
"Anyone else get fatigue with their team making a prelim all of the time?" :)

No point putting energy into something out of your control imo ..full confidence in the club and Scott to do what is needed to get into the GF

You have to be kidding

The prelim in 2007 is without a shadow of doubt the worst game i have ever sat through in my entire life , the game seemed to go for about 10 hrs , and when Geelong looked to finally broken clear - Coll came back yet again

There are pivotal games in every clubs history , if Geel had lost that prelim it would have destroyed the Cats for years

Just like the 2013 PF , IF Haw had lost that game after 11 straight defeats , then that would have destroyed the Hawks

As for Frid nights game , well 4 flags later , and the bottom line is , if you dont reside in Victoria , then you are not swept up in all the emotion , so if they get beat it is far from the end of the world

Just remember at the end of the day, it's a bunch of blokes kicking a pigskin around a park.

If we lose, it will suck....but the sun will still come up on Saturday morning.
