Think they were ****ed if he didn't play too. Such an important influence on their team. When they saw him trudge off and then come back subbed out in Q1 that's when their intensity completely fell away.

Sidebottom had the least Sidebottom day possible. So used to having his running mate carry the burden.

Leaderless without Pendles is Collingwood.

Yep. They do have an unhealthy reliance on a 37 yr old and it's not just about his game, but what he brings to the team when he's out there.

But I still think that doing the unselfish thing would have put them in a much better position. Calf injuries are very difficult to overcome.

Think about the quality and depth of the Lions midfield for a moment too...

Neale not playing, and they still dominated Collingwood's midfield.

This is why I keep saying, we need to really focus on our engine room the next few off seasons.

Yep. Said similar last week. Brisbane can effectively pick two of their mids (Dunkley and another) to slow down the oppos best and then they have 4 more who win their own ball and wreak havoc.

It shut down Rowell and Anderson last week and it stopped Collingwood's midfield today

Next week will be interesting because Stewart obviously mandated out but Brisbane will be making decisions on some sore boys.

What a roller coaster ride.

Barracking for Geelong and Brisbane to beat Collingwood and Hawthorn feels a bit like allying with the Soviets in WWII.

It's obviously the right thing to do in the service of defeating the greater evil, but it also highlights the rise and status of a couple of new superpowers, and they potentially pose a more direct existential threat to us (given Curnow's apparent interest in moving to both).

But for now, just glad Collingwood and Hawthorn lost, and that both had some weaknesses exposed that at a minimum leave them second guessing themselves a bit in the off season.
Russia were on our side in WW2!

One of the most insipid captains performances I’ve seen from Moore.

In a final too.

All talk.

Unless he's allowed to play the loose man in defense he's practically useless
