Ooopps. No, that's not true unfortunately. 2026 will be under the new system.
If the example Twomey posted is accurate it could easily be completely out of our hands. You'd need a top 2-3 pick plus another decent first rounder to match if he's bid on at pick 1. All it would take would be the teams with the early picks to refuse to trade and we're shit out of luck.
If you can only use 2 picks to match, that likely won't be enough.
I like what the AFL is doing here.
But I hate that we're going to be impacted.
THREE first round picks (which includes TDK compo pick currently pick 9) will be plenty enough to secure two top 15 picks next year. Don't stress, the club will get it right.
The lockout was what worried me the most
We will pay and get him.
Should do a year of travelling.Cody needs to tank next season
I don't disagree but you know the AFL. Blow with the wind. Any small amount of pressure and they caveNeither should be entertained. Rules were changed.
Not sure that F/S’s should be made so hard to draft.
Every club has the same opportunity bar GCFC & GWS (who should have Academy access in lieu. BL & SS can have restrictions placed on their Academies and others NGA’s)
Personally, prefer a free-for-all and pre-list your picks from F/S & Academies.
2 top 15 picks probably won't be enough.
So maybe Curnow to GCS for This year's and next year's 1st rounders. Even if the draft pool is shallow, we'll still need those picks for Walker. Better to trade someone who doesn't want to be there for someone who does.If the example Twomey posted is accurate it could easily be completely out of our hands. You'd need a top 2-3 pick plus another decent first rounder to match if he's bid on at pick 1. All it would take would be the teams with the early picks to refuse to trade and we're shit out of luck.
If it's only 2 picks that can be used, we might end up paying 1.4M for that Ferrari. It costs more to move up the draft order and with a compromised 2027 draft future picks are almost worthless. No, I mean involving all those picks (trade/swapping etc) to ensure we have a couple of 2026 picks that are high enough to match a pick 1 bid. We'll be right and Cody is certain to be in Navy but does suck at the draft capital we'll have to spend for the privilege.
It's a bit like paying for the Ferrari worth $1M.
Collingwood paid the equivalent of $100k for access to their Ferrari (Nick). Brisbane & the Dogs similar for theirs (Ashcroft & Darcy).
Unfortunately we'll have to pay $950k for ours...
Yup they've not thought this one throughOr there’s the incentive to finish at the bottom of the ladder, which should be de-incentivised.
Even the AFL wouldn't expand the role of someone that incompetentAre we sure Michael Christiansen isn’t also now in charge of the f/s bidding system now that the pies have got the Daicos boys?
Should do a year of travelling.
And a club will still draft him in the 1st round. No list manager is going to forget that he’s an incredible junior football player.
