Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Enough with the Liam Jones nonsense. Its retirement time for him.

What he actually wants is to come back to WA to finish his career.

I'd bookmark it for next off season.
West Coast to finish bottom next year. We get pick 1. Cody problem solved.

Assuming king will leave at some point

As mentioned, looking at what Collingwood paid someone like Perryman; King could be getting offers of around that $1.5mil even at top sides.
Walter is another, who will get paid massive overs on potential.
I agree, surely they know something more than just speculation and its more concrete than we know.
Deals for most FA's so King and maybe even Walter don't happen in the offseason they move they are played out a year or 2 in advance.

Namaste

Fear not my brothers and sisters. The toxicity that once dwelled within the hearts and minds of our beloved Carlton Football Club, is undergoing a cleansing.

Negativity which served to undermine our quest to be the best we could be, is being cast out.

Do not think in terms of what you have physically lost, but in terms of what you have spiritually, emotionally and culturally gained.

We were correct in identifying that there were issues within the club, that they did not wish to address. Our voices and the voices of new faces at the club, have lead them to an uncomfortable truth.

Now that they have awoken, we must throw our support behind them for the season ahead.

Remember, an egg opened from the outside contains temporary nourishment, but an egg opened from the inside, contains life.

🙏
Stop accepting cups of tea from numb3rs.

I see Jones as a cheap, easy and lazy way out. He is not going to get better but may perform well for a patch of 5-6 weeks

Yes, he may provide back up for Dean, but surely our recruiters  have a number of younger well performing defenders on VFL, WAFL or SANFL lists who could provide good cover as well as develop to become the next Sam Collins?

Is there some evidence our club and medical team have been negligent with him perhaps? Maybe Charlie and his management are willing to go nuclear if so.
I have no knowledge of the situation just spitballing.
You mean like the time he decided on his own to ride a bike to the ground before the match?

Ignoring the members makes sense when you see how many on here think bringing back Liam Jones is a good idea.

Frankly, I find it astonishing.
I'm not advocating for Jones per se, though if faced with the alternatives of Young as a primary KPD or any level of reliance on a teenager, the argument for a mature stop gap has merit.

Guess if they want a cheap VERY RISKY option....... (instead of charlie)
Think it would be a disastrous decision from them.....

Doesn't make sense in my book. You have a good crew up there now, guys willing to buy in and play for the club, even as it is they can't fit all their forwards into the side.

Why risk it? No doubting his talent, but jeez, more risk than reward.

If a club was to take him on it would be as a rookie, spend half a year in the VFL at least and see where it leads to find out if he is serious or not about playing again

It should be Ethan Phillips. Clearly our best defender and player at VFL level this season. Built to play on the modern day KPF. At 26yo he is ready to go.

If we lose him to another club like McMahon I’ll be disappointed.

Those saying this are not only short sighted, they are wrong.

The saying is - cutting off your nose to spite your face.. :D

I am on Tinder looking for someone without a nose. Suddenly I am not looking so bad.

I don’t understand the hate and criticism for CJ but the love for Florent.

CJ has a better disposal and kicking efficiency than Florent. He’s quicker and younger too.

From the games I've watched CJ is a fine athlete but has no understanding of Aussie rules footy.

Good luck selling that to the members.

I don't know about that, take a look at the socials posted by the office curnow on brownlow night, almost universally negative about Curnow.

The perception in the online section of the members, like the crowd on here, is that all this is being driven by team curnow and that he's gone.

They might be negative towards Charlie, but I think that would turn towards the Club if we give him away unnecessarily for cheap.
And would also turn back to positive towards Charlie if we keep him and he's kicking goals and helping us win in round 1.

Why? CJ has a better disposal and kicking efficiency than Florent. He’s quicker and younger too.

The stats can be misleading. It’s a lot easier to hit targets when you kick it backwards a lot of the time.

Absolutely spot on particularly when he is fully fit next year with in a team in contention and on track to kick 60-70 goals whilst we are in the bottom half of the ladder.
