Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

The words "Charlie is desperate to leave" is pure media fluff.

All along his angle has been, if something can be done great, otherwise he was happy to stay.
I hope so MS3.
It's looking harder and harder for any potential clubs to put reasonable deals together and playing next year with a potentially disgruntled Charlie, will not only derail another year, but likely devalue Charlie.

If he's genuinely not happy, then he HAS to go, for the sake of the team (the direction I'm leaning).
If he's genuinely ok with staying if a deal can't be done, then he has to pull his finger out next year and not upset any locker room dynamics.

Which is what we need off half back.

Ollie isn't the greatest decision maker or deliverer off HB, I'd actually prefer him as a high half forward. Can hold an oppo HB accountable, has the tank to get up and back and can kick a long ball deep into the F50.
And most importantly... can run through the midfield.

The amount of disrespect to Carlton for a contracted player... by the media, coaches, players, former AFLPA president in Dangerfield (who should know better) is pretty disgusting.

Other media voices are absolutely right - AFLPA and such have too much flexibility; contracts mean nothing it seems. Clubs need to have more foundation on players who sign long-term contracts, and players need to understand that when they sign a contract that it's expected to be honoured, not to be used as a guaranteed salary for X years safety blanket and then decide they want to go somewhere else.

What is going to be the line in the sand moment and who's going to do it?

It’s only harder because clubs don’t want to pay for Charlie. It’s probably a sobering thought for Charlie and his manager, that clubs aren’t exactly willing to cough up any decent offers for his services.

Geelong saying Neale not going anywhere, similarly Suns don’t want to release any of their young guns. Maybe Charlie’s not worth it in their eyes, is the message coming across…

A lot of talk about Ollie Florent on here. Probably some context needed.

Florent is 27 and was not in Swans best 22 for much of the year. I don't mind him as a player but he has another four years on his contract.

Four years.

What do you think we'd get for Jordan Boyd? He's contracted for another year. I like him but it's clear Voss doesn't. We'd give him away.

Swans are DESPERATE to move Florent's contract. He would be delisted if he was out of contract. He has no value in a trade. Ok footballer but four years is a long time if he spuds it up.
Florent is a decent player who’s had a good career, he’s not the same as Boyd, you’re right though about his contract and probably the reason Sydney are happy to move him on.

Don’t forget we have two players Sydney didn’t want and that we got for stuff all

Liam Jones 1 year contract anyone?:eek:
Not for me thanks.
Burnt his bridges. Will start next year as a 35yo.
Only managed 5 games this year in a side pushing for finals who didn’t have much in the way of KPDs.

We have Weiters, Haynes, possibly Gov on a smaller deal, Kemp who can swing, HOF, Charelson, Carroll, Cowan, Dean coming and Newman to fit back into the 6.
I know some of them are different types of players, but it's simply not a position of need.
As much as I didn't want to lose Jack, if there's a position we can afford to lose a player, it's a med/tall defender.

A big NO to Liam Jones
His time has come and gone
Burnt his bridges well and truly after he left
If we’re trying to change the culture around the place, embracing a guy who openly potted the club isn’t the way to go about it.

So what your saying is bringing in a few guys that have a tendency to drift in and out of the game is a good thing. That's already most of our team right now.
The nature of 90% of the league is they drift in and out of games. Every teams bottom 10 or so (more even) drift in and out of games, it's why they're not elite players. The top 10% are the top 10% because they don't.

I'm saying these guys are to improve mid-bottom bracket of the starting 22 with a specific profile - athleticism and skill. What they're able to do when given the opportunity and damage they can cause is the benefit they bring.

You can't expect to be able to find players with pace, skill and never drift out of games and are 100% engaged every minute of every game. If that's what you're after, you're trading for the likes of Chris Judd. Last time I checked there's not many of them available for a future 2nd round pick that are just to improve the depth of your list.

Difficult to see us being in finals contention with the departures we have particularly if Curnow is gone, way too much quality out the door.
We weren't that flash with the 'quality' in the door. I'll be pleasantly surprised if our 'ins' balance out our 'outs'
Pitto and Harry in the ruck doesn't exactly get my juices flowing for starters.

Key indicator will be what shape our Injury list is in early ... and of course how we do in trade.
If there isn't a move on improving hand and foot skills .. speed and awareness to sharpen up the side ... then the flat tyres on our wagon will hold back our ambitions for 2026.

Being a bit of a transition/building year ... I'm tempted to cut Voss a little slack ... only he is on a short leash.
I want to see some progress being made and not same ol' same ol' 'Business as Usual' rubbish from Voss.

Not sure Charlie cares too much about greatness .. he’s not made in the MJ, Kobe or LeBron mode. He’s a naturally gifted athlete, relaxed guy, I’m sure he has pride in his performance but he’s not manic like the real greats and he never really will be. He’s still a great player but at 29 with the injuries he’s had and the natural tendencies he has I’m not banking on him having a personality and mindset adjustment if he stays. He can still kick 60 goals next season with a full pre season under his belt but if you’re building around Charlie Curnow you’re doing it wrong. Hence no club at this point being serious about giving up a building block in return!
I totally agree with you on this. I dont see Charlie as the type that breathes football/success,its just a job to him and it pays his bills. Doesn't seem to like speaking in public,so it's easy to see he'd could say things without any thought, even jokingly and then not even realise what he's said.
Seem's not to to take things to seriously kind of guy?
If he doesn't get a trade i can just see Charlie rolling into training wearing his ugg boots, riding his bike first day of pre season without a worry. He'd just laugh it off with the boys.

Chad Warner was on Giddy up - SEN. Said a tiny snippet about Charlie, and if you read between the lines... then yes he doesn't seem desperate, infact he seems like he knows he'd most likely be staying.

I think people need to seriously temper their expectations on what we'll get back for Charlie. And the talk of letting him rot in the twos is absolute idiocy and I'm glad some of you don't run the club.
If any BF Nuffy ran CFC, all the players, coaches would be sacked within the first 6 weeks.

We'd have our first President-CEO-Captain-Coach!

The Bluemours would be going nuts at least!

"Anyone got any good ideas's"....?

So if Charlie knows he is staying what is the game plan? Is it the club trying to send a message that you are not as valuable as you thought? Is it a message from Charlie, I'm going next year? Or is it just his manager trying to generate activity for his business. All seems a bit odd to me. Charlies body isn't right because of Charlie, Charlie didn't kick goals this season because he hasn't worked on his craft and as talented as he is, he is a bit of a one trick pony. What is this all about?

It's them taking a long shot that a club decides to go for it and things progress from there. They should have sounded out potential targets beforehand. In fact apparently they did and those clubs may have said they're interested but Curnow will need to work on getting out of the Blues, which is where we're at.
Don't be surprised if Team Curnow ups the ante further to try and force it.

Did he though? I thought he was told he couldn't play without getting the vaccine the the time.
