Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

After all the posturing and negotiations, where do people think Charlie will end up in 2026 and if he moves, what's the final deal?

Closest to the pin gets to change their name to Nostradamus.

I'll go first.

Swans on a 7 year deal in a 3 club trade with WC netting us Pick 2, a Swans future 1st, Chesser, Dattoli and Florent. Our TDK compo also moves.

I wonder if instead of asking for WC’s Pick 2, we request next years 1st? Would literally jump the entire queue for Cody Walker.

This.

bloke could kick 60+ next year
Injury aside, he’ll likely win the Coleman next year wherever he plays. It will be tough viewing for us over the next few years, but we need to cash in while his value is high. If I were GC, I’d take him in a heartbeat—even at overs. From our perspective, we need to make sure we get the return we deserve: a quality young player, plus draft picks for Walker down the track, and turn this into a genuine win-win.

And yet again…… (question for Charlie and his management) what does Charlie Curnow being prepared to take less money have to do with Carlton? He can take whatever the hell paycut he wants, he’s not a free agent. He can play on $0 for the next four years and our club will still ask for multiple 1st rounders or a young gun player + more.
It’s a long bow, but Charlie taking less money might make him more attractive to an interested club - if he’s not taking up as much salary cap it leaves that club able to attract and pay more for a free agent.

Not sure that means a club is more likely to offer Carlton a better deal but that’s all I got..

If we do go after Florent - what's he worth? Decent but played 2nds in the second half of the season.

Contracted until 2029. Never injured and is usually a good kick... ticks 2 massive boxes for us.

Future 2nd rounder?
Less. 3rd I reckon. As someone pointed out he's got a 4 year contract which they want to get off their books. It'll be a salary dump.

It’s a point I made earlier when all this crapola talk of Charlie being willing to take less money to leave Carlton. Absolutely it would increase his trade value ie what club wouldn’t be willing to offer up more picks to get a two time Coleman winner at 29 on under market coin? That’s why all this shit reported in the media is bullshit. Just pure excrement. Not to say a trade won’t get done, but all the media reporting is faecal

Agreed, if I was GC there's no question I'd give up Walter + a Future 1st + Flanders (or whatever I trade Flanders) for, to get Charlie in. From their perspective, the trade is effectively Walter for Charlie. They get enough picks gifted to them through their academy everything else is meaningless.

I would argue it's pretty clear Cox doesn't like him; much the same way you've said Voss doesn't like Boyd.

Florent was absolutely in the Swans best 22 under Longmire.

I'd suggest Florent would absolutely be in our best 22 if he comes in.
Bit of consistency in judgement wouldn't go astray. Swans player has an AWFUL 2025 after an ok 2024 and doesn't have injury excuses = good bring him in. Yet you'd eject 95% of the current list after 3 bad games due to injury let alone a seasons worth.

A source involved at another club (not involved in Charlie trade. Has nothing good to say about his management but his bottom line was:

D'Orazio will be run out of the AFL before Carlton takes unders for Charlie .. but that's exactly what he's sold other clubs on. Petracca isn't the first he's tried to do this with but Charlie will hopefully be the last.

I’ve been thinking about this.

After the Petracca debacle, if he botches Charlie moving (which I reckon is the more likely) he will have completely bottled 2 of the top 10 most high profile players for pretty much no reason (sure it’s understandable why Trac wanted to move).

Why would any of his players stay with him?
There are clearly much more competent managers.

Part of me wants Charlie gone, in a deal we come out on top. Let us take the proceeds and use them on adding some high end youth.

The other part wants to see Charlie back next year; stripped of VC title, no longer the face of junior memberships, ‘marketing allowance’ removed and assigned to someone else.
The trouble is there is no high end talent this yr

3rd round pic at best probably a 4th gets it done considering you'd be taking on his contract

I didn't make a judgement on anybody. Simply pointed out to the poster I replied to that it appeared Florent wasn't a favourite of Cox this season, whilst absolutely being a best 22 players during Longmire's tenure. In much the same way the poster pointed out that Boyd didn't appear to be a favourite of Voss.

I haven't seen Boyd or Florent play this year so I've no idea of their form, injuries or why or why not they weren't being selected in their respective teams. Maybe Florent was just shit this year and Cox dropped him?

The words "Charlie is desperate to leave" is pure media fluff.

All along his angle has been, if something can be done great, otherwise he was happy to stay.

Prob been mentioned, but it means other teams have to 'pitch us' rather than us scrambling to put a deal together.

I know stats aren't everything and the eye test is important, but Holland's had better efficiency and more touches in 2025
True, but career averages are basically identical.
Just imagine, we bring this guy in and Hollands pulls his head in and gets his life together and back on track.
Worst case Elijah has another year off and this guy replaces him.
Free throw at the stumps IMHO
