Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Bring them together I say. Show ‘em how it’s done (friendly smile too).

Drop the last bit of picks and Rowbottom from that, bring in Green instead.

That's absurd... keep the pick or upgrade it if we're afraid of a Dean bid in the top 10. I'm not.

Absolutely not. You do not fire from the hip acquiring future picks, you make a measured approach, especially if your own fortunes are in flux. There's a mid-season pick trade period now on offer too.

Absolute madness, go to the draft and get a top 10 player alongside Florent, Dean, and Ison.
I have one word to say to you after this, Jimmae - Walker!

I’ve been thinking about this.

After the Petracca debacle, if he botches Charlie moving (which I reckon is the more likely) he will have completely bottled 2 of the top 10 most high profile players for pretty much no reason (sure it’s understandable why Trac wanted to move).

Why would any of his players stay with him?
There are clearly much more competent managers.

He's eroded trust with the clubs. He doesn't act in good faith

He's eroding trust with his players.

It's an incestuous industry.

Not long before he goes the way of other high fliers who have screwed one too many over.

Such a crazy way to operate.

They should be acting like actor’s agents, get them into good movies and/or shows that they are suited to so that everyone is successful, and it breeds more success.

Instead he’s like a ****ing real estate agent.

A question around Curnow and what we might accept in a trade for him. The unspoken requirement seems to be an equivalent star coming back our way (and possibly more), however do the impending changes to father-son change our thinking on this?

If what has been suggested is true (apparently the AFL will outline the specifics next week), we will likely need a top 3-ish pick in next year’s draft to match a bid on Walker (possibly plus extra, and the word is clubs will only be able to use a maximum of 2 picks to match bids).

One way is the TDK compo pick + one of our future firsts ('26 or ’27) for, say WC’s 2026 first (plus or minus other picks, the exact deal, end even whether WC or another of the bottom clubs would do it, isn’t the point of this post, so don’t want to get caught up on that). But that’s going to make it hard to have the points for Dean and Ison this year.

Another way is through a possible Curnow deal. I’m in the keep Curnow camp, and until now I’ve not thought a deal would be able to get done, but does the likely need for a top 3-ish pick in next year’s draft open up other possibilities on a Curnow deal?

It’s hard to see how we get the early-2026 Walker pick, and have enough points for Dean and Ison outside of any possible Curnow deal.
We may as well just select him ourselves

Well if that's the case we should trade Harry, because he's in no rush to win premierships.
For the people disagreeing with this...

If you want to hold Charlie to a certain standard about "being committed", then it is only fair to do the same to every single player on our list. Especially those who don't seem to buy into the message of driven success.

I wonder if instead of asking for WC’s Pick 2, we request next years 1st? Would literally jump the entire queue for Cody Walker.
Cody might not be top 10 by then, remember Ben was touted as top 10 at start of last season and Ended up 40

I would argue it's pretty clear Cox doesn't like him; much the same way you've said Voss doesn't like Boyd.

Florent was absolutely in the Swans best 22 under Longmire.

I'd suggest Florent would absolutely be in our best 22 if he comes in.
Nick Newman was a similar case in point, and turned out a great trade as was given the right role. I would suggest Florent is a better footballer than Newman was at the same stage. The upside for Florent if you get him playing his best footy is significant. Easy best 22 in full flight.

I’ve been told he really wants out. Manager looking at all options based on Charlie’s request and prepared to take less money

Issue is if he doesn’t happen this year we could well be doing this again next year

It’s all about satisfying us with a deal that helps make us better. If we get picks they will be packaged with TDK pick for Top 3 pick or traded for players from other clubs plus Dean & Ison who we are very excited about to add to our youth

On this matter I really trust my source. Having said that MS3 may have better info. I don’t know and am not looking for argument or criticising his info. Just passing on what I’m told

It’s just nice to hear from you again Soap. 👍

The issue is that players agents in Australia operate on VERY thin margins. If you’re getting 5% of a contract worth a 300-700k a year, you’re really only focussed on one thing - signing more contracts, pushing through the commission.

Crystal ball time 🔮

After all the posturing and negotiations, where do people think Charlie will end up in 2026 and if he moves, what's the final deal?

Closest to the pin gets to change their name to Nostradamus.

I'll go first.

Swans on a 7 year deal in a 3 club trade with WC netting us Pick 2, a Swans future 1st, Chesser, Dattoli and Florent. Our TDK compo also moves.
If WC are involved, I want Shanahan coming to us

How many cases do people remember a player wanting out and then coming back and performing long term?

I remember Okeefe and Papley as positives nut I see Mcarthey from GWS, Danniher, Gibbs, Dunkley as players who all wanted out the very next year.

Port refused to trade Tredrea after he demanded a trade to us in the late 90s. Thornton re-signed and got on with things when we refused to trade him in 2006. I'm sure there are plenty of others.

Geelong saying Neale not going anywhere, similarly Suns don’t want to release any of their young guns. Maybe Charlie’s not worth it in their eyes, is the message coming across…

I don't put any stock into this.

We're still a fortnight away from trade week.

What are clubs supposed to say 'Yeah, Neale is totally up for sale if Charlie is available' or 'We want to keep Walter, but we'll pack his bags if we can get Charlie'.

How disappointed would you be as a player if your club didn't strongly deny it was interested in trading you. Equally you need to placate fans that you aren't potentially shipping out fan favourites - until there is an actual deal to show for it.

All these comments are posturing. Everyone is up for sale for the right (Wright) price.
