Looking at the Lions midfield I'm starting to think that adding Sharp & Cumming is the way we need to go. A midfield unit of Smillie Sharp McAuliffe with Lalor Hotton Cumming rotating through could be the way forward

Heard from someone connected to another club at Grand Final breakfast they expect us to take Sharp and Robey and very unlikely we’d trade back.

Picking Grlj at 3 or 4 gives me anxiety. Sam Cumming whilst he had an injury, his performance in SANFL men’s speaks volumes. 17 and racked up 22 and kicked 3.

Dyson Sharp whilst his numbers were low I’ve seen enough from his last two years playing as a forward see he has what it takes. I know some people like Tiger Faithful on Instagram was calling him a bust but he didn’t play middle time.

Midfielders like Ashcroft and Daicos are once in a generation players who have demonstrated this since their U18 days. It would be a massive ask for Grlj or Cummings to make this sort of jump, even if they have similar athletic profiles. The question then becomes, is this worth using such an early pick on them? The only player in this draft similar to those boys is Duursma… whilst his athletic traits and skills are different he has that run and carry that the two above have, plus the ability to find the ball..

If your referring to his disposal count, we have to remember this is at SANFL senior level, not under 18's.

Spending most of his games playing as a high HF, not a midfielder too.

I wouldn't be going to this draft factoring in Taranto and Hopper. They will be gone by the time this group is contending.

Assuming we did this then you have a future midfield mix of Lalor, Sharp, Robey, Smilie, Hotton with the likes of Campbell running through there. Then next year if there is another gun mid we would be stacked.

What makes you say that?

Look at what kind of players we took last year and what MCQ and Massey have said publicly. We clearly don’t give a shit about footy IQ or kicking skills. Murphy Reid was clearly a much better footballer than Bo Allan before the draft, yet here we are.

Athletic, contested ball and strength are what we’re after. Robey fits the mould to a tee.

FWIW for many tigers in here with a hard on for Robey I hope we don’t take him. Too risky for us with such a small sample size.
