If yesterday’s game is anything to go by, I don’t think you can have too many A-grade mids in your side, so we should stack a few more big gun mids if we can.

McVee for 29 should be as straight forward as it gets.

If Simpkin is a chance, 11 with whatever works around that, should be as straight forward as it gets.
This.

Great news that McVee is coming.

If pick 11 is involved in any capacity heads should roll though.

He’s out of contract. He’s a role player.
He’s nominated us.
It’s Ed Langdon in reverse.

Please please no giving in to pressure from any quarters.
Pick 29 for McVee is a no brainer, should be done first day of trade week.

In good news, Judd McVee has played 65 games for Melbourne so right when he is hitting peak in 100 games time Freo will have secured the Father Son from him and his footy player partner. Dynasty stuff.

Pick #29 or a F2

Wish you fine Fremantle people the best of luck dealing with poor old mate danster

Oh don’t worry my next stop is judds trade thread and some serious danster trolling!
Pick 11 for Mcvee and 23?I
I don’t agree at all as noted this Langdon Clark areas every day of the week - OOC but knowing how much Melbourne are campaigners and us pushovers at the trade table I can see it being something along these lines.

Even our f2 be better than1st this yr

We have to get 20 back. ****ed if I’d give 11 only for Simpkin
Idk mate can't say I watch NM games. I feel like he is the type of player Geelong would target so if he's good enough for them he's good enough for me. Salary is the biggest issue here. He would also need to play wing and idk if he would be comfortable with that.

Good problem to have but how do we fit all of McVee, Walker and Simpson into the backline? This was our backline mix in the finals game:

Ryan Chapman Pearce
Cox Worner Banfield

Some of my psychotic rambling:
  • McVee is starting b22
  • If we play Walker it would let Clark off the chain which could be very damaging
  • Can Chapman be moved to a wing?
  • Is Worner b22?
  • Simpson is a gun in the making but can we fit him in?
  • Could Clark do some stints in the midfield?

I think there is room for multiple users off the half back. For a large section of the year we had Worner and Banfield kicking out of the backline, this immediately addresses that

Clark doesn't need to fit as he's permanent.

McVee takes Banfield's place (was temporary). McVee is also IMO great cover for Ryan if he gets injured.

Walker/Simpson/Worner are competing as I think we are a bit too tall. I suspect Walker may come back in next year to the lockdown player for smalls.

McVee is starting b22.
Could he play on a wing? I recall reading something about him wanting to play further up the ground, maybe we've offered him that chance?

If Cooper had a big preseason and got a best 22 spot (I'm adamant if he hadnt had that injury he'd be best 22) then Worner and Banfield being depth for McVee and Simpson would make us so much more dynamic out of the backline.

Walker has completely lost his spot from the looks of it

Agree tho I’m not writing Walker off in any form yet.
Just play him off the bench .
It gives the option of genuine lockdown small if one is getting/could likely get off the chain but still allows us to keep Judd and clark to keep attacking and make the play …
Of course this will be all moot because it’s just waaaay too attacking and risky for JL

Pick 29 and a few swaps should do the trick considering what we got for ed Langdon
