Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Does anyone think west coast or essendon will give up their future 1st those 2 will be bottom 2 next yr. I really want multiple top 10 picks next yr
Not just for Cody but a couple of live picks would be awesome

I would love to see some innovation from Carlton next year from our coaches. With the last possession rule do we even need a recognised ruckman? Can HOF just do the centre bounce work and Crippa over the rest of the ground?
The rule isn't going to make as much of a difference as you're seeming to think. If you kick it out at the moment in the back half it's a fair chance it will be insufficient intent already. They're just getting rid of any need for an umpire to think. There'll still be lots of out of bounds from long kicks down the line to contests.

Definitely not going to make enough difference that we can go without a ruckman or play a defender recovering from a knee reconstruction in the ruck 😀

I too would love to see some innovation from our coaches though. Hopefully we can get some good ones in.

Yeah I wouldn't hold your breath on that, only innovation in our coaching lately is how to destroy a team in record time.

If it's just picks we get for Charlie, get the best ones possible and keep on building, if you don't want to play for this navy blue jumper then you can GTFOH.

This line is pretty much meaningless until we have a list that proves that they're not just happy to put on the Navy blue to collect a paycheck and retire as far, unsuccessful, AFL players who could have had better careers.

The number of players who have walked away genuinely having given it their all and achieved all that they can individually over the last 23 years is remarkably low.

Until that changes wearing the monogram and staying at the club doesn't mean nearly as much as it should

It's time to redefine what sticking fat means with the Carlton Football Club.

What have you seen in Walter that would warrant being more than steak knives in a deal? I just don't see it. Accept he's extremely athletic, but can he footy?
What did west coast see in Josh Kennedy in the Judd trade? At the time he was an unproven gangly young 20yo key forward drafted at number 4.

Jed Walter is at a similar stage of his early career. The attributes he carries could make him the best forward in the league. Imo it’s worth the risk.

You aren’t going to draft someone with better talent with an early pick in this years draft.

If we traded CC for picks only WTF we doing with our 2026 salary cap?

Buku Khamis, you're the next contestant on who wants to be a millionaire!
I don't like the way the list managers have approached the last two seasons. Getting rid of quality players and match winners for draft picks in a weak draft is a huge risk to take.

Josh Jekins was running with 14 + Rachele + Pedlar for Petracca. Wouldn't even straight swap Rachele for Petracca.

If Melbourne gets a haul like that for Petracca and they can get it done early enough it would add pressure to the buyers to up the ante on Charlie.

I think the expectations here have always been too high for a 29yo with his injury history, even though at his best he is an unplayable talent.
You need to look at the net loss overall.
We now have to rely on Pittonet as our number one ruck. McKay is our only key position forward we will have left. Weitering is the only KPD with Young as back up due to O’Farrells injury. Depth is paper thin. Losing Hollands, Curnow,TDK & SOS in one hit who are all best 18 players can't be replaced as easily as people think.

I can’t see how anything that is said changes our stance. We either get an offer we can’t refuse (which is unlikely) or he stays. All the other carry on by the Cats, media and CC’s mgt is irrelevant.
I didn't say it was going to change our stance and yeah its irrelevant but you can't tell me the CFC wouldn't be annoyed by all this Charlie carry on???
I dont care if he stays or goes either way,I just want what benefits the club an makes us better.

As an aside, I can't believe how far this Ugle-Hagan to the Suns talk has gone.

If there's one city that would be disastrous for him without super close watch it's the Gold Coast.

I don’t think it is hatred, it is more based on his bad attitude and lack of consideration for Carlton and the debt he owes to the club for developing him.

Charlie is a franchise player and to flaunt himself on the market like this tastes of a poor attitude and immaturity.

If that is who he is, then it’s best he finds someone to over pay him.

TA
Is this all based on facts or hearsay, it's just hard to believe that all these issues have just suddenly appeared in the last couple of months, The club is not blameless in this space, has Greg swan come in and said that's Charlie's actions are not acceptable when they had been accepted in the past 10 years.

Hate? - imo the posts about curnow have been significantly more civil/nicer than JSOS - and if you compare JSOS vs Curnow actions, the latter comes out a lot worse given 4 years remaining on contract…
Don't get me started on SOS, the club should be ashamed of itself for letting that happen

I think some on here are truly underestimating the concept of addition by subtraction.

Getting rid of players that don't want to be here/have their heart in it (TDK, Jack, Charlie etc) might hurt in terms of player "quality", however getting rid of said players and building off of a united playing group that plays as a TEAM is absolutely a reality in play here and why I am genuinely expecting us to strongly challenge for the 8 next season.

Adding solid depth like Khamis, Chesser (who genuinely could be a gem), Reidy + exciting youth like Dean, Ison with a fresh, raring to go Jagga, why wouldn't I be excited?

If it's just picks we get for Charlie, get the best ones possible and keep on building, if you don't want to play for this navy blue jumper then you can GTFOH.

This is a turning point for the club, you are either with US, or against US.
What was that dire straights song. Money for nothing.

Good story, losing best 22 players and replacing them with players no better than players we have delisted or moved on over the last 2 or 3 years and then call them solid depth players. We should never be recruiting for depth it should be recruiting to improve.

Doesn't change the fact that the deal needs to he extremely good for us. A deadline doesn't change that. I'm keeping an unhappy Curnow rather than gifting a club a flag.

I thought we're in the business of winning flags for ourselves, not blocking 1 other team from maybe winning one.
We do what's best for the club in the end, whatever that is.
