Which Melbourne are prepared to pay. Doesn’t matter if it’s front or back ended, Melbourne offered that deal to keep Petracca at the club because he is a star.

If another wants to pay that same amount for Petracca the star, why would Melbourne take less in a trade?

If Adelaide can’t afford him under their salary cap, they may need to pay Melbourne extra on top of the Petracca value to use Melbourne’swere cap space.
Who says they cant ? They were going to offer NWM similar coin

Absolutely. If you look at the top 9 (and take out Collingwood who are cooked and Geelong who have no assets to trade) and then look at Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Both are playing with Monopoly money — the academies have already cooked the draft and could ruin the league.

Yep. And clubs are not bidding on their players early enough so they get them cheap.

Petracca to GCS would likely see 2 players to Melbourne. Flanders an obvious one (if he wants to go). GCS cant afford to give up their current draft picks so likely future picks used.

I reckon the Dee's are handling this really well. İf Trac wants out, fine, but you come to us with your new destination club and let's nut it out! If it doesn't suit us, we keep you. Simple as that. At 1.4m × 4 years, the new club has to pony every single cent or, if we have to help out with some of the baggage, then we'll be asking for overs. There's nothing wrong with that stance. Nothing.
I have said on our board, it's 4 years still on contract. If Melbourne are happy to hold him regardless then they are in full control. Petracca even if he told them he can't come back then does what? sit out of the game for 4 years and effectively ends his career? Ain't going to happen.

Also very interested to hear why the Dees are ‘desperately hoping’ Trac nominates the Suns

If they’re happy to keep him and his salary, surely they wouldn’t care who he nominates?
I would think this is pretty obvious.

Gold Coast have many more assets that are both attractive and realistic to land compared to Adelaide.

Let's see if Adelaide's FD are as desperate as their fans are, lol

This petition I am sure will defiantly get Trac to give the Crows a little more thought than anyone else.

I don't see a Suns petition anywhere. What are they doing? Nothing. So basically Trac to Crows confirmed.

I cannot in any world see where this could horribly backfire what so ever a very well thought out and rationale thing to do.

Always a beacon of rationality, Crowy

If the Crows miss out, the fans can re-ignite the #wewantanswers tag....

Unlike America sports trades are picks. Crows needs to convince a player that Melbourne wants to make the trade happen. My guess it won’t happen unless a Crow of significant trade value wants out.

I didn’t say they can’t.

But if they can why would Melbourne take less value in trade competition?

Not sure if he fumbled over his words, but Morris just said Adelaide had no interest in trading more than Pick 14* (19-21).

If that's the case – thanks for playing, Adelaide. Lol.

It's heavily backend though, your initial contract wasn't $1.7M.
That means absolutely nothing. What is the point of cap space if you can't attract anyone like Melbourne?

We should absolutely hold him to his contract and not trade him if teams are going to **** us around with lowball offers becoz they reckon they are doing us a massive favour by taking his contract.

You idiot.

Thats more valuable than the deal you just nutted out with Crowie. Way to play yourself. :$

Not if he nominates us

Not saying he will, but the player always gets to the club he nominates, in this day and age
Oliver met with Geelong and was on his way out last year, Trac also wanted out (admittedly left it late), Petty wanted out the year before that.

Nominating doesn't mean much if the nominated club puts forward a shit offer for a valued player under contract.

If he chooses us It will be our first this year and 2026 first plus a player like Taylor. Deals always happen in the end to the club the player chooses
Always my ass, Harrison Petty didn't happen when he said he wanted to play for Adelaide.

Tom Morris saying its a "genuine 50-50" between GC and Adelaide. Anyone know if Petracca is planning to actually go up to the Gold Coast rather than just chat with dimma on zoom?

Could've already done it – QLD sports media isn't quite at the nuff level of SA's.

We have people saying its already happening. AFL is chipping in a bunch of Ambassador money to make sure it goes through.

When you have wasted hundreds of millions on the expansion clubs what is a few million more.

Last I heard they were expecting to meet with him this week and I assumed that meant we would fly him up for a face-to-face after Dimma met with him last week. We flew Ugle-Hagan into the GC last night so I assume Petracca will probably be next in line either today or tomorrow. There's also Curnow and Elliott that we'll probably fly up (if we haven't already).

For all we know, Petracca is already here and meeting with the club today. He may have even flown into Brisbane and drove 45 minutes down the M1 to our headquarters on the GC just to avoid attention. Who knows? The media here are pretty hit and miss in terms of who gets reported on at our airports.
