You can't trade players who don't want to be traded. If you offered a player $1.7M at 4 years and he decide to be traded then he will be part of the trade otherwise it will be done with picks like other trade of contracted and uncontracted players. Doubtful it will only be pick 14 though.
Of course Adelaide can’t trade Rachele unless he agrees. That’s why it’s up to Adelaide to convince him otherwise Melbourne $1.7 million contracted Melbourne player that Adelaide are after

Will Crows completely fumble this one? Starting to look like it.
Bit unfair to say either club has fumbled if they miss out on this one. Sounds like by all accounts both camps have put forward compelling pitches and one team will be unlucky to miss out

Oh thanks for pointing this out.

My value for Rachele was without considering his injuries this past year. Something that should be taken into account.
You are the one who said tracc had a better year it aint hard when rachele missed games thats a total fail by you

Yeah the first time he expressed interest to return home is after Melbourne dangled the carrot and pushed him.
Even if that were true (which I'm not convinced of), it'd be one of the only examples of forcing out a good player to get a good player. For better or worse, players have far more autonomy over where they want to play than the clubs. This usually means that if a club doesn't already have the currency around the mark (ie draft picks or unsettled players), the selling club usually loses out. The buying club don't generate more currency (by making important, settled players unsettled).

There is no logic to Adelaide trading away a top 6 player to bring a top 3 player in (who is 7 years older). That's trading side-ways, not trading to improve your flag chances. If Petracca nominates the crows, the deal will centre around our two firsts, our willingness to cover his full salary, and any of our players open to a move (who would all be fringe).

Rubbish you are only guessing the only people who know whats going on is tracc and his manager AND going on what melbourne want him to do which means 2/5th of f@ck all

It means everything since they hold the contract. If it didn’t then Trac would have nominated Hawks or Pies by now.

Adelaide not wanting to trade Rachele or Thilthorpe to get Petracca is a terrible move from them. Guess they have no interest in winning their first flag since 1998.

Great news for Melbourne though as we will now trade with Gold Coast who have a lot of great assets and will actually offer fair value unlike the Crows.

End of the day

To those who think contract s irrelevant and Trac holds power = He nominates Hawks/Pies

To those who think he needs to consider what Demons want in trade = He nominates GC

Can’t see any path he actually goes to Crows, who do not want to satisfy a trade and at the same time are not the preferred destination.

Well so far I've been given none.

Which good player for good player trades can you name in the last, I dunno lets say 5 years?
Not many examples over the past five years. Houston/Noble/Lukosius (plus draft capital) last year would probably be one. Kennedy, Macrae and Smith all went through in the one trade too, I suppose.

It’s true, Melbourne dangled a return to Perth for Hogan who eventually said yes feeling a bit unwanted at Melbourne

Similar Brent Moloney was pushed out of Geelong to Melbourne so they could acquire the draft capital for Brad Ottens from memory.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 yeah right he is going to go where they want him too not where he wants to good luck with that

Its outside the last 5 years but I'll give it to you to be kind.

That's one.
Are you saying if there’s none on the last 5 years it can’t be done?

Do Melbourne have to accept whatever Adelaide offer?

Lol like who knows what has been offered

When Adelaide wanted 2 first round picks for Jake Lever and no one thought he was worth that and was going to be dragged out all trade week, Melbourne came the party and traded 2 first round picks in the first deal of trade week.

21 year old being offered huge money? everyone thought Lever was worth 2 firsts, it was only nuffies who thought otherwise

What? If melbourne want a player from the Crows, it's up to them to convince them to come not Adelaide

is there some kind of requirement for melbourne fans to be dropped on their head as children

It’s Adelaide that want a player from Melbourne, it’s up to Adelaide to convince Melbourne.

Rachele is contracted, Melbourne can’t speak to him or convince him unless Adelaide give him permission to speak to Melbourne. Do Adelaide give Rachele permission to speak with Melbourne?

Still think it will be 14 and butts

If that’s the offer we will just turn around and deal with Hawks who Trac prefers over Crows anyway.

Or not pickup the phone and leave Crows recruiters scratching there asses as to if they will get anything done.

Crows are in no mans land neither being Tracs preferred club (Hawks), nor a club who is able to get a deal done (Suns).

I agree with most your posts but I think they are right, that it’s on Lamb and Dees to convince Rachelle to move. Isn’t the Crows job.
