If I could be indulged for a moment, pretending Young went for pick 19 or 20 (i know it will probably be pick 34) but let's assume it was one of those picks, could you see a scenario where gold coast traded pick 6 for pick 3 and that young pick for pick 13?

Can anyone tell me why I should get excited about Tyler Young?

Enjoy your 1st rounder.
Well, if his return from an ACL is anything to go by you'll have a solid defender...

vgood closing speed. reads game well. not a tough nasty player type but can intercept well. will be sad to see him go. will fill a need, but we can replace him easy.

If he manages stays on the park you don't have to risk using Ginbey as a key back.
He is a very good spoiler so can kill a contest, my biggest criticism with him was he didn't seem to take the game on enough, preferred to just take the safe option, however his games this year he looked much better in that regard.

He is a solid defender and will do a job as long as there are others to help, if you want him to be a key figure or lead the backline thats not going to happen.

Strengths/weaknesses? Is he as c***y as Baker and Graham?
More of quiet achiever, just seems to get the job done without any fuss. Have you guys any interest in Blight that we delisted?

Unlucky in my mind. He got squeezed out because we have a bit of a glut in defence at the moment.

Just to add onto that, you won't need Ginbey to play defense but with Ginbey as the no.1 young would be the perfect no.2 to play alongside him if that was the plan. His kicking has been much better since his acl and whilst he does take the safe option has definitely attempted to run a bit more with the ball out of defense this yr.

Is he more suited 1v1 to the athletic types Curnow/Kings etc or the gorillas, is the a current player comparison?

He’d be teamed up with Harry Edwards who has the turning circle of the QEII.

He would play on the more athletic fwds, miller played on the Gorilla fwds.
Just from looking at our defense, I felt much safer when young and miller were paired with eachother then anyone else.

He’s deceptively quick, a lovely kick, can play on talls and smalls and is a good contested mark.

I wouldn’t say he has Alex Rance type agility, but reads the play well enough. Most Tiger supporters would acknowledge that he came back a better player post ACL.

Not suited to playing on guerrilla’s, better equipped to play on the second key forward or dangerous mid sized forward. More likely to be matched up against a Amiss, than a Tracey at Freo.

Man.. last time I checked this thread was on page 4. How tf has there been 180 pages in less than 2 months. Anyone care to summarize?
Sobey = must have
Lindsay = must avoid
Any of Duursma CDT Sharp Cumming Grlj Xavier Taylor in the mix for our other pick or we trade it back get half a dozen R1 picks in return and add all of them.

#1 Sharp - Most ready and likely to be a top end player of the entire draft. Would complement Lalor and Smillie really well. He goes inside and provides them with ball, and does defensive/pressure work. Also he takes his team and grabs it by the scruff of the deck and drags it across the line. The harder and tougher it is the better he is.

#2 Robey - Super high end potential, but also high risk. He seems to have a great attitude, good footy smarts and a great physique and athleticism. If he reaches his potential he can be a top end mid/forward. Trying to match up on Lalor/Smillie/Hotton/Robey combo would be insane. But a lot of due diligence required.

#3 Cumming - Really good well rounded player who would add to our midfield mix. Doesn't have that super high level of proven performance, or that super high ceiling. But, as a really solid mix of speed, skill and performance he looks really worth taking.

Good summary and agree with your order.

Obviously Robey has come in with a tonne of excitement and hype so late in the piece. Would’ve been fantastic to have seen how he would’ve fared in the U18 championships.

I do like the fact that Sharp, Cumming and Kellaway have all played really good footy together with SA and complimented each others games to a very high standard in a winning side.
Certainly wouldn’t be disappointed if we got the SA trio.
