Good luck with that

I sucked at batting, bowling but could kinda field ok
Can sympathise.
No sport I love more, but gosh I was useless at playing it.

I'm sure you will survive being beaten.
Afterall it is only a line of type carrying a fantasy.
Qootball Schmootball.

*Atone is one t.
Panettone has got two.
I have a tale to warn you of the danger of the path you are taking.
As unlikely as this seems, beez was once a well adjusted normal person.
But that all changed once he started to correct all my errors. It started with spelling, than grammar and when I rapidly use the wrong homophone his anxiety got to fever pitch.
I let autocorrect use the American spelling of organis(z)e and Beez became the neurotic shell of a person you see today.
My advice, ignore my numerous errors to prevent becoming the next Beez.

I grew up playing basketball as a sport that I chose for myself - not sure mum & dad were happy that I came home as an 8yr old and declared we had to cancel the family weekend away so I could do to basketball tryouts... Yeah, the holiday went ahead and I went to the second weekend of things

I had a growth spurt young and was either the tallest or second tallest girl in my school grades from primary school through most of high school, so playing basketball I was generally the centre and learning how to subtly use elbows in the key

Funnily enough though, if I was actually any good I would have been one of the shorter players beyond the under age comps and having to learn to play different roles - needless to say, I enjoyed playing but not the best shooter with no hope of going beyond playing for fun

Today has felt like a fairly slow day, how about everyone else?
I spent the morning in Slovenia and just entered Croatia. So, not overly slow.
Slovenia is amazing btw
Everything is such high quality.
Ljubljana is an amazing city. It reminds of Paris if Parisians were nice people.
Went to the biggest cave in Europe this morning was amazing.

It's still going slowly, but in good news I've had a first proper cricket training tonight and worked out I can bat!

Can't wait to get a strong run of 10's or ducks
I played into my mid 30's and loved it at the time.
But everytime it's hot on a Saturday I'm glad I'm not fielding.

That can be frustrating.
My last season I couldn't do it anymore, my reflexes and timing went. Scored only 100 runs at about 9 and 45 of them were in in one hit.
Started dropping catches, it was awful. Worse part was I couldn't be dropped due to.grading rules so was stuck.in first grade.
Knew it was time to retire.
The most humiliating part was when a 19 yo kid got told off for sledging me by his own team mate for not respecting the old guys who had earned it.. it was coming from a good place, but made it clear I was an old has been.

Heard lots of great sledges over the years, my favourite was a great comeback from a kid (probably 15 yo)
Had an old angry bowler who at this stage although past his best was still pretty quick and very menacing ripping into this kid who didn't flinch, didn't respond and looked a million bucks (ended up playing some second xi cricket for NSW)
After he hit a great cover drive at about 30 or 40, our old bowler said you'll be a good player when you hit puberty.
Quick as flash this kid says thank Mr Hardy, I heard you were a wonderful bowler pre menopause.
We laughed. Bowler eventually thought it was terrific, but not at the time.
Best I've heard.

That is a Jaffa wow, can say that is 100 times better than anything I’ve heard ahah. Though I’d say what I’m more prone to seeing, especially at some junior levels is blow-ups.
Some of the best I’ve seen include throwing an apple at somebody in the sheds, throwing the helmet up and hitting it as a kid walked off the field, but the best (worst for him) was when a kid punched a fridge in the sheds and end up breaking his wrist somehow and finishing his season

Yet another reason that cricket is awesome.

I played tennis and table tennis because these were the only games I was competent at as a teen. However any sledges were a dq.

I'd hope you aren't working from home too, showing up 30 mins late is a underrated power move
I commute 2 hours to work at the moment, living regionally again (hello BallaratBulldog) but working in Melbourne.

But thankfully yes, WFH roughly 3-4 days a week at the moment :)

I like when the Goose anecdotes bring you back down to earth. Makes me feel warm inside.
