Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

And then you see the AFL give West Coast a free draft pick, all so they can essentially bring in Starcevich for free.

Anything is possible in this makey uppey competition.
And its the free kick that brisbane get that really is bullshit

They end up with a first rounder, which they wouldnt have had previously

utter garbage if brisbane get that first for starcevich given his concusssion issues too

I am not treating TDK or JSOS as massive outs.

Brisbane just won back to back premierships with Darcy Fort leading the midfield, who would be lucky to sit within the best 20 rucks in the competition. Stats say we win more with Pittonet in the side.

JSOS is a loss to our best 22 but has played less than 20 games over the last 3 years. We are losing something we never actually got use out of.

We are going to free up near 2m in cap space by letting them go. The Saints have blown close to 3m on them. It’s a shame to lose talented players but for a top heavy side with salary cap issues those are the “best” possible losses.

Charlie is going to be the killer, which is why we will need to be well compensated. Get Hayward into the side and we lose maybe 20 goals head to head, but with Harry, Kemp and Moir back and a more dynamic system we can make up for it.

I think next year is going to be tough, hopefully not tougher than this year but I can’t see us making the 8. 2027 is the year we must bounce back with our new found cap space and kids who have been fast tracked.
Agreed with most of your statement apart from not expecting us to make the 8 next season.

You'd be amazed what an injection of youth and players who genuinely want to be with us can do to the club.

All we need is something that even resembles a sustainable playstyle and I'm putting money down on us making the 8.

Cause even the "worst" outcome is

Charlie, TDK, Jack out

Chesser, Khamis, Reidy, Dean, Ison, Florent, another first round pick for this year, and another one to help with Cody next year.

Yes, in theory that's a net loss, but I truly believe we will be a better "team" with all of the additions in the years to come.

I'm a lot more bullish than most on here.
Add Hayward and Robey to that list while keeping Sydney’s 1st next year and we’ve done pretty well all things considered.

Would be great if AFL gave us 10 and 11 for TDK and JSOS. Then trade 10 and 11 for Humphrey and 18. Keep Charlie this year and give it a red hot crack in 26. If Charlie wants to leave next year at least we can sell the members with picks for Cody.

I would suggest that the main crux of a deal between Melb and the Suns is agreed to. A contracted star player in Trac wouldn't nominate one club if there wasn't guarantee that a deal was done. This news happens to fall on the same day where we are told of the seriousness of Humphrey looking elsewhere. It's pretty obvious what is happening here...

Yep.

“We won’t give you an end of first round compensation pick for Starcevich, because his contract at West Coast won’t warrant it. But we’ve got your back anyway. We will give that compo to the struggling WC and they can trade it to you.”.

Dillon and Swann trying to be clever when everyone can see through them. No wonder no one takes the idiots running this league seriously.

I’m not a Hayward fan. Just don’t believe he will give us the x-factor we need.
I’d want a better return player wise than Hayward and Florent for Charlie.
Sydney’s Round 1 picks this and next year are a given but not content with these 2.

I'd like the people saying he's no chance to say why not?
Presumably because he wants to ****ing go somewhere else 😂😂

If we’re honest with ourselves - we aren’t a destination club right now, particularly in relation to other big Melbourne based clubs.

And let’s not kid ourselves that the league is at a point where players can be traded to clubs against their will. We might get there soon with a new EBA but the player managers and AFLPA still hold the whip on these deals.

My theory on Charlie is that if he is traded this year then you know the club really felt his time at CFC was untenable. The club would have to have a honest conversation on whether they trust Charlies professionalism. Can he do a 'Gibbs', come back to the club and get back to his AA form that is expected of him?

would be happy enough with Hayward if the first rounders were early first rounders, especially next years. Relying on Sydney's first round next year I think will not be enough

Well the rumour is us, Melbourne and the flith, of those three, Pies surely can't satisfy the Suns, and are you saying the Dees are more of a destination club than us at the moment? 😅

I don’t think any of the clubs you mentioned will get him

What are people's thoughts on Logan McDonald, still young and surely has a huge upside? Paired with Hayward and a couple of first rounders, this might be salvageable. I like the idea of having a decent key forward coming back, and whilst Walter would be ideal it seems GC are the least likely of the three teams we will do a trade with.
Average KPF altogether, he’s a bust as far as a pick 4 draft selection goes…

In what world won't the Dees just say - Trac for Humphrey? I don't see how Trac picking them does anyhting but make it more difficult to get the bear
Because these days clubs dont ask for players. Players pick clubs. Unless Humphrey wants them they aren't going to make the Trac deal contingent on him.

Goldcoast have plenty of other currency to do a deal and Melbourne have never been adamant that they need players for him. At the stage theyre at draft picks are ok for them.

Reckon there’s bugger-all chance of us getting BH, but you’d think it’s heavily reliant on him firstly nominating us (unlikely) and then turning Curnow into the currency needed to satisfy GC/Melbourne.

All a bit of a moot point until he says he wants to leave and requests a club of choice.

They have a coach who is certain to remain beyond 2026, we do not.
