Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Just to pick this one apart: If they reject then offer 10 + 11 for 6 + 24 from *. If they reject, then 10 + 11 at the draft this year isn't really ideal especially if a Dean bid comes before we get to pick...

It's not that much difference for us, in my opinion.

10 would match the Dean bid by itself, we'd then get to use 11 and keep the JSOS compo (21) as well.
Vs
Using 6, then having to match the Dean bid with 21 and 24.

Is this the kind of draft where you want to effectively trade 11 and 21 for Pick 6? Or is the evenness of the draft such that two bites at the cherry inside that 10-25 range is better? Is the drop-off from 6 to 11 all that significant? Doesn't seem so. Would be more about targeting a very specific player (ie. Lindsay), vs taking a best available/most suitable of what's left option (ie. Grlj, Cumming, Greeves, Dovaston) as well as a free throw at the start of the second round (ie. Pickett, Barker, Ludowyke).

Yeah good point, maybe instead of approaching Ess, we approach the Tigers first anyway.

Main point is, we would want to know what having pick 11 actually does for us before trading Charlie for it.

Or be one of the final pieces of the puzzle. Despite his off field antics, his best footy is very good.
Its one thing to perhaps be a bit loose off-field, maybe you can dampen that but if some of the rumours from the Bulldogs were true, I wouldn't go near JUH with a barge pole. In any event we had our own issues with Elijah H. Best to stay clear of problematic types whilst we work on 'resetting' ourselves.

Yep, preference for me would be using it to bring in a quality established player, but I'm just not sure who is gettable and suitable at that price. They're probably not on the table, but I'd be asking the question of players like Pickett, West, Curtis, Amiss, Lohmann etc. I know he's contracted for ages, but I'd also have a chat with Mitch Owens and see how the Saints' spending spree compares to what he signed for.

But if they're not available, I don't think taking 10, 11 and 21 to the draft is necessarily a bad result. This might even be the perfect draft for a hand like that, as the top 5-10 haven't really elevated themselves much from the pack, Dean looks like solid value for one of those picks, and our "needs" would be best served by targeting role players rather than ball magnets.

Man Saints canning Steele is rough business. He's given them everything, was captain. And they give him the explore options chat and strip him.

Wonder how popular that will be with the playing group

Jack Steele to Essendon? Melbourne?

Both clubs will need a seasoned AFL body

About the only bloke who regularly went head to head with Cripps and beat him on multiple occasions.

That looks like poo, I guess it's true, everyone really does look better in blue.
