Moving on from here

We can whinge all we like but we can't change anything now. We all know that we had PLENTY to offer Judd but it still wasn't enough. That's ok, it's his choice and he has to live with that.

But where do we go from here in terms of trade week? Are there any players apart from Robbo who are still unsigned? Could TJ still be traded away for a high pick?

If we can try and concentrate on the positives it's that we still have a very good list that will be competitive and Pick 4 is still ours. We will bounce back straight away and get on with business.

Bring on '08!

Lets concentrate on securing Meesen for as little as possible and if something enticing comes along then have a crack at it. I thinnk this is just pure speculation but is Jed Adcock leaving Brisbane? If so he's a great player

i agree im over it already do we still want jolly from swans i know we are supposed to get that ruckman from crows so may not need him is there anyone else we should chase maybe a backman

After this i definetly dont wanna see the back TJ, he's skills in my view are a key factor to the team, but i'm spewing about Judd

I think we all are spewing about it. HOWEVER from the sounds of things we would be giving up alot to get him. In the end I think keeping our picks and (most) players will be of great benefit to us.

TJ is the one in danger though. While we would miss his skills, we won't miss his inconsistency. I still believe there is some strength in the interest Sydney have been showing and therefore he could be traded.

No interest in Jolly if we can land Meesen.

I agree that we can not sit around complaining that he didn't want to come and play for us. If Adcock is (which I don't think will happen but who knows) looking to see what is around then he would be great. Moran from the Kangaroos would be handy also, not as a ruckman but a a KP. Apparently quite mobile and good set of hands Bailey could mould him into a good defender. Meesen would come cheap, Jolly would not cost us too much i feel IF he does want to come home.

i dont think we have to list to really challenge anytime soon so i think the best thing to do is rebuild a bit try and develop some superstar kids which is what melbourne have lacked for years and years. So im up for trading to get high draft picks just aslong as we dont get another Molan

Hopefully we can still land Meesen in the PSD. i still think that we should trade one of Bruce or Green for a first round pick

Who will take them though? The Dogs and Saints might but it's unlikely.

I think the main thing I want to get across is that we still have many positives going forward into 2008. A new coach, a new football manager, some gun players coming back from injury and a high draft pick. Not to mention guys like Meesen who will (hopefully) really add something to the club.

It's exciting times - with or without Judd.

To be very honest - i wasn't completely sold on the Judd trade to the Dees. Simply because his body might not be the one we paid for, and whatever we give away for the trade will be bigger then what we recieved in the future.

Seeming as the team is rebuilding, we might as well do it right without use of a band aid.

That's it, we all would have loved having him at the club. However there are certainly positives for us. We won't challenge for the flag in '08' and i don't think that we would have with Judd either. With a good injury run though we will surely shake it up a little

I agree, i hope we get Meeson, it fills in one hole that we need badly - a quality young ruckman.

I think TJ is an important part of the team, but he gets relied on too much, and I am glad we dont' have to get rid of Jones, Frawley, Pettard or McLean to get Juddy.

I hope we can get another 1st round pick even if it does mean some unwanted trades ie: Johnston or Robbo, but I have great faith in where the club is going, and in Bailey, Gardner and Harris, they've done a lot for the club.

We need to stick togehter boys and girls, Juddy not choosing us highlights our main problem, too many bandwagoners, on and off the field.

TJ looks like he wants out, sydney are interested in him and also brad miller and I heard they will be offfering pick 11 and a premiership player (possibley buchanan or jolly) for the pair.

What do you guys think?

I agree. I don't think we are realistically challengers either.

We as supporters need to demand better performances, and I think we are.

But also what we all need to do is sign up again in 08, keep the m'ship base at or around 28,000 and keep demanding better.

But we have to give to receive!!

That's it we need to make sure we don't drop off as we have had a bad year, Judd not choosing us. Stay on board and make sure that we show the support needed and maybe the performances will improved.

I would rather: "Succumb to your inner Demon"

Nothing we can do now. A bit disappointing but it isn't the end of the world. We didn't lose anything, instead we can now focus on our youth and hope that we use #4 and #21 wisely in the draft.

We still have a good list, with some quality young players, and a new coach, so there is a lot to look forward to in 2008.

Like most I'm bitterly disappointed that Chris Judd doesn't want to come to the MFC,however I don't think another midfielder is what we need right now, as good as Judd is.

I would not like to see TJ go.He is one of the class players in the Melbourne team and highly valuable.I believe we need a Power Forward(Pavlich would have been perfect, but he was never going to leave Freo.)
and/or some help down back with a big strong full back.

Jolly returning won't have me doing cartwheels as he is no better than either Johnston or Jamar. Our list is not too bad when we have a good run with injury, but when we look for players for 2008 I think we should only go for quality.

If a potential recruit is only marginally better than what we already have then I say don't bother! We should only look at trades if there is true quality available otherwise stick with what we have.

"melbourneFC 2008 - Because the other 15 clubs are scum"

Like it! :thumbsu:

Ryan Murphy anyone? A Vic boy who didn't have a good year at Freo due to the arrival of Tarrant. Could be very handy up forward.

I wish there was a way to know who was out of contract so we could at least discuss certain players to go after, without the mystery of if they've signed or not. Be much easier if we had this sort of thing available to us.

Well. For a start we're stuck in the wrong section of the draft for the clubs liking. Its only mids around that area but the KPP after that are not worthy of 4. It creates a problem for CC as it's basically the best V what you need. It would be prefrerable to trade for a pick 7 or 8 as then we can get a KPP as well as a good mid at 4. How we do this I don't know.

I think we should use 4 on a gun Mid like Cotchin, Ebert, Masten, or Palmer... and trade to get a KPP. Someone like Moran as someone mentioned earlier. Has anyone thought to put Big P Johnson in the backline? I think he could fill a similar role to Egan at the Cats. He's definitely big enough.

I have never thought that size would have been the issue with him, how ever his mobility would worry me. I mentioned Moran before, definately someone to have a talk about and with.
