Great servant of the club and most importantly a Premership player .

People forget he spent multiple years essentially carrying our tall forward stocks without getting any real support, a real heart and soul player.

In terms of our team for next year, it should give opportunities to the likes of West and hopefully Buller so I don’t think it’s a massive loss in hindsight.

Good luck to Brodie šŸ‘

Been a real workhorse and a warrior for the pies.

Deserves his last contract to be a bigger one than the pies were offering

I remember watching him in the VFL at Couburg years ago. He had just arrived at the pies as a VFL team of the year defender… but as a forward that day, you could see that he knew when to lead, had good hands on the lead etc

What a find he was for Collingwood!

… And to think they were looking at taking him 12 months earlier but held off

Play well… just not against the pies šŸ˜‰

Going to miss Checkers. A great clubman and served us well for so many years.

I can understand him accepting Melbourne's offer. It provides him with more security and money, and given he had a delayed start to his AFL career I can understand the need to want to cash in while he still can.

He will forever remain a Collingwood Premiership player and deserves nothing but gratitude from all of us.

Thank you legend.

The last 5 seconds is his goal in the 2023 grand final

It was an absolutely massive goal and one of the big reasons we won the game, Brisbane had momentum at that point, and we had missed a few shots on goal so the team was getting panicky. When he slotted that from the boundary I think it gave everyone genuine belief.

A likeable bloke. Impressive thighs.

Put his body on the line every week, took a lot of hits, always created opportunities for others.

Doesn't matter where he ends up, Checkers is a Collingwood success story for life.

Love him.

Hope no one boos him, gave his all for the club every game he played.

Nothing wrong with him chasing a last pay cheque.
Absolutely. Devastated to see him go though. Put his body on the line in every game, damn sure he deserves as much compensation as he can get. His old age won't be easy.

Very sad to say goodbye to Checkers, one of my favourites, mainly because of the fearless way he threw himself into every contest. He had some great goal sense at times too for a big man.
His footy story was one of resilience and never giving up on his quest to be an AFL player.
So glad he snagged a couple of Coventry trophies and of course the big one - premiership medal.
It'll be hard seeing him in anything other than black and white, yet I understand the want to set his family up with greater financial security.
True thanks to Checkers for his great service. Personally, I'll miss him a lot. šŸ˜”

Checkers leaves, loaded up with love and respect.

His body looks to be finally succumbing to being battered every week, but at the very least Melbourne will benefit from his team-first attitude. Not sure they’ve seen much of that in recent years.

Melbourne, eewww

Oh well good luck to him. I don’t have any fondness for players who want to leave once they’re gone. Checkers will be no exception.

No hard feelings. Just no fondness anymore once they’re gone.
I'm the same. Once they wear another jumper the love ends. No animosity. Just no love. I wonder if we'll be as magnanimous if Nick leaves for the big bucks from Tassie in 2030!!
