Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

If Skipworth is our snr coaching target, his preference is Essendon. Not saying he will end up at the bombers but that is his personal preference
agro will be pleased.

I mentioned David Rath yesterday.
He's at Essendon now but spent 14 years at
Hawks with a big overlap with GWs time there. Originally Clarko's biomechanic 'kicking guru' but has moved into strategy & innovation.
Will watch with interest.

Now more than ever this is the reason why players leave 💵.

The only reason & especially to Linton St! :moneybag:

No I think you’ve forgotten,we have much more talent underneath this time as a result of going to the draft…..wilson,phillipou,windhager,owens,Tauru,travaglia,nwm,Garcia,max hall etc…..didn’t bother with max king as who knows with his injuries but definitely much more talent underneath than previously
Besides NAS who will leave in a few years they’re all unproven. There was plenty similar hype around Coffield Clark Gresham King McCartin Billings.

Enjoy another trade week victory though before another bottom 8 finish. Paying players 20 - 40% above their market salary is not a sustainable strategy.

We just found about 1.8 million in cap space yesterday, and that’s without taking into account a possible Charlie move.

We have about $2mill in cap space. Plenty of room to bring in a quality player like a Humphrey

We do have cap space but it’s tough to get these big deals done in <3 months planning.

I think we go hard at the free agency market next year.

The trade you told the club to say a big F off was for the TDK pick and a swap of 1sts.

It’s not a great deal different to trading pick 7
Gold Coast's future first is going to be at the back end of the round, so you're basically saying he's worth pick 2 minus that.

EDIT: To clarify, it's that you're valuing him so high while creating nothing of value with the spare pick/points in 2027 when the rule change likely makes the pick something we have to dispense with.

Assuming Sydney are successful in trading for Charlie, wee're better off making more pick and player trades next off season if we need more or less points.

Goodness me there is some major cope on here about StKilda.
Don't be surprised when T.D.K and co play like superstars like Matt Kennedy and Saints do well.
We still dickheads at the club recruiting the same Khamis moneyball types and failing miserably.
God when i think about how many **** ups they've made promising a spot to barely VFL quality players

Don’t see the point you’re making? They jumped up anyway back to a prelim by being aggressive in the offseason

Saints are also getting 5 players not just 1 to improve their side next year
The point is Houston was added to help bring them a premiership.

He added sweet F.A. & he was all Australian the previous year at Port.

It can take a while for a player (let alone 5) to gel to a new club, culture, coach, gameplan, team - if they ever do.

I don’t see any of the players (possibly Flanders aside) adding much value;

TDK replaces Marshall
SOS averages 12 games/year
Ryan is well past his best years
Aleer - a lottery.

They’d have to get very lucky with injuries & players gelling quickly to reach the 8, let alone reach the top 6.

Who our of these teams do you see them being better than next year;

Adelaide
Geelong
Brisbane
Collingwood
Gold Coast
Hawthorn
Fremantle
Bulldogs
GWS.

No one is saying TDK is not a good player, the point is he is not worth the money that makes him the second highest player in the league. His contract is the same as the reported contracts of Cripps and Curnow combined. Then the Saints lose Marshall because of it too. Its a strange move.

I dunno what you saw last year to suggest that we could even make the finals let alone win the flag. Best 22 players are leaving (mainly TDK) and at this stage we haven't been linked with any like-for-like imo. Plus, one of our biggest, if not our biggest, marketable asset – a 2x Coleman winner – is desperate to leave. It appears we're not a destination club anymore, the players we're linked with are not really world beaters. I know Humphrey's name has been thrown about but it seems that's more media talk than anything. Why would he want to come to Carlton?

I personally think we're in for another painful slog of a year, at least until Voss is given his marching orders. I really hope I'm proven wrong but my opinion (based on nothing but my own observation) is that the club has some issues and not everything is chocolates and rainbows.
I am bullish. Let's see!

I agree but kudos to the Saints for having a shot at the stumps...they are not going to die wondering

Would we be happy with Pick 11, F1, Florent + Hayward?

Would allow us to package up 10 and 11 to move up the board, and also have added fodder for Cody next year.
