I’m still super confused as to why we would consider taking him, I could understand if we were light on for forwards but we have 3 rippers

You might have three forwards, but maybe you’re short of a nutty space cadet who gets into endless trouble and doesn’t actually play.

We could lose Humphrey and he has a 3 year deal. King and Walter are OOC next year…

It is a crazy risk for where the Suns list is at from my POV.

I could understand Collingwood rolling the dice as their list is on the precipice. Gold Coast are still on the up.

You can only surmise that Hardwick is trying to recreate what he had at Richmond with him seeing the upside of JUH being like recruiting Lynch previously.

The downside is he could completely blow up the club Fev at Lions style.

JUH needs to understand rule 1: Obey the laws of the country, dont associate with those who don't.
Rule 2: When employed, attend work and do as required, with a level of effort better than bare minimum.

15 vs 16 wins for the season and both teams won the same amount of finals this year.

average age for the Suns 24.5, average age for Collingwood 28.5

Add to the fact that it seems important to his team to get JUH out of Melbourne and it makes a lot more sense to go to the Suns than Collingwood, albeit our key forward stocks are stacked. I would think Brisbane or Sydney would have been the best choices tbh in terms of list fit.

I think the point was more Gold Coast still have a lot of organic improvement left in them, so why take the risk? You're going to be fine without JUH, so the risk vs reward profile isn't that great.

Collingwood on the other hand look like they've got one last shot next year, where they need everything to go right to be a chance, and need a gun key forward like the desert needs the rain.

It might even be over already, but you can understand why they'd be a bit desperate if the higher ups believe that it's got to be next year, or its 5-6 years away or so.

Might be more like recruiting Sydney Stack than recruiting Lynch . . .

Who does JUH displace from the Suns forward line? King is a lock, so it's got to be one of Walters or Reed. I guess Walters wasn't consistently in the firsts, but you'd be pretty grumpy if you him, you were a high academy pick, you got in to form, and you were were stuck behind JUH.
I'm not fully down on Gold Coasts list, but I would have thought King, Walters, Reed was the perfect mix of tall forwards.

Agree, unless the expectation is that King will leave as a free agent (quite possible). But every other club would love to have King and Walter and to build with that, without needing to bring in a bloke who surrounds himself with criminal associates

No one initially. Walter and King both OOC in 2026 - could be a vibe that one or both leave, or maybe we just want a free hit on a former pick 1 that’s 23yo

Interesting for GCS to want him when they have King already established and Walter, Read, even Andrew already around needing opportunities to play in the forward line.

If you were conspiracy inclined it does have a bit of a whiff of the AFL not wanting him to end up out on his backside. But I think Dimma probably just sees that his 2024 form was a lot better and he was a lot more potent than Walter and Read are atm and he offered more around the ground than King. Their forward line needs a bit of what he offers.

It’s just a free hit for dimma to add to his legacy. If he can turn this blokes career around he’ll look like a coaching god and conversely nobody will really care or blame him if it doesn’t work out

I agree.

As a GC school counsellor, I see his move to the Suns as a no-lose situation. Even if he doesn’t re-discover his love for the game, and moves on in 12-months.

It offers JUH a clean slate, strong mentoring from Harbrow’s mob, daily guidance under Hardwick’s roof, and the calm of a relaxed GC lifestyle - one I’ve lived & loved for the passed 17yrs after being born/bred in Victoria.

And from personal experience, there are many credulous interpretations of what life on the GC is actually like.

Everyone deserves a second chance — and with exit clauses in place, the Suns risk little but could gain everything. As does Jamarra if he buys in.

Gold Coast have nothing to lose by giving this guy an opportunity, if it doesn't work out, so be it, but if it does, they can unleash the potential this guy has.

I'm all for second chances, I hope he does well.

That's the glass half full view on it. If we can get him right, then it's obviously worth it, but that's a big IF right now.

I think it's worth the risk. Getting Petracca and JUH probably makes us a legitimate premiership contender next year.

If you get it right he’s insurance as King is a RFA end of 2026 with plenty of VIC clubs coming for him.

Third chance at this point after the disaster which was his mid season return?

don't know why the suns would consider going down this path.
It's like playing with fire
unnecessary and foolish
