Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

I call it as I see it. He can't coach and now the culture of the place is stuffed. All under his watch.
Your vision is skin deep & oversimplified and scapegoats one man ignoring weaknesses over all the other areas of the football club during Voss' tenure: recruiting, list management, president, board, fitness, assistant coaches, head of football

Seeing how some of these players have carried themselves since the end of the season (Docherty on podcasts and JSOS with Fly etc) has left me happy and excited for the future despite the list clearly going backwards.

Have 0 interest in catering to their selfish cry baby attitudes and am glad to see the back of them.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see us rebound next year and overachieve with a lesser list purely because we've let the sooks exit the place who have clearly caused drama and cliques that hindered the club and staff.

Agree with this.

They say there's truth in humour for it to be funny. I'm reminded of the laughter that the entire room had when Docherty called Jack's negativity out in front of everyone in his retirement speech to his teammates.

Imagine how negative that attitude had to have been to get to the point where making fun of it gets that type of reaction.

On another note, the ability to take feedback on board is important. Almost every time you hear from a young player it's how they're rapt to be at the club, how they love learning from Voss, etc.

More of that attitude. Become sponges and grow as a young team.

It's not Vossy's fault that Austin and Agresta gutted the list the last 2 years which is the primary reason the players have become disillusioned.

Instead of building on a preliminary finals base they've torn it to shreds.
It's also not Vossy's fault that our president fell on his sword.
Or we employed a CEO who was topping up his superannuation without changing anything of any substance.
Or that we had a Head of Football who was basically incompetent at his job.

Voss hasn't been perfect, but he's been a rock while the walls were crumbling around him.

AND there was absolutely zero chance of him getting sacked when Wright took over. First day on the job and the first thing he does is sack the head coach....don't think so.

The odds of Voss being our head coach the end of 2026 is four fifths of **** all. His job is to lay the foundations for the next coach to take over the reigns with clear air.

So it's everyone else at the clubs fault including the culture of the place except Voss. Understood.

Binns said something like he respects Voss for expecting more from him after that bake...

King Charles would have ridden his bike to the next game bare foot if that happened to him...

No it is all aspects and Voss. Your view is petulant, unstrategic & ignores whether there was better senior coach available and the importance of putting responsibility on the playing group, rather than giving them an easy out by scapegoating the coach.

Resigning or sacking is accountability everything else is just words
I think it would be a cop out.
Scapegoating.

The club has issues across the board.
Sounds like he's one of the only persons brave enough to put his hand up, accept his shortcomings for the year, and push to improve.
I didn't see that from Jack, TDK, or Curnow the whole year.
Yet I'm supposed to be upset they've left/leaving?
Where was that willpower from McGovern, Saad, Acres, Docherty, and Elijah?
That's 7 senior players who were completely unaccountable for the entire year - 8 with Elijah's bullshit that was completely unnecessary. Numerous others couldn't get on the bloody park.

So should we sack another coach even though we still convincingly beat a grand finalist team? And also our youngest players and our supposed fringe players all found form at the same time and proceeded to effectively execute a modern gameplan, so that must mean that the coach is shit and needs to be replaced?

Sounds like the players, coaches, and administration all need to accept responsibility and get their shit together and unite in ensuring a strong and positive 2026 season.
Voss has already begun.

Mentally weak players are the issue. Weitering raised this issue in interviews earlier in the year. Fish rots at the head. Maybe Voss realises he needs to be less cuddly, as may the players who are in the leadership group? I’m just speculating, I have no inside knowledge.

Love that Walsh and Weitering have been blunt in interviews. Cut the BS!!! Is Cripps the right guy to lead us? Should Curnow have ever been in the leadership group??? Voss and our leadership group need to lay down the effing law, IMHO!!!!!

It’s all words the on-field behaviour and leadership doesn’t match the rhetoric.

Coach sitting in the corner on the stairs during a game or coming to the bench and not engaging with anyone and playing with magnets.

George Hewitt consistently put in through out the year and can hold his head high.

Vossys speech will be splashed all over social media by now, watch the vultures tomorrow. Monday will all be about how we failed as a club.
Absolutely!!! Its not the first time a coach has put his hand up for his 'failures'.....but this is a big club with a big following who's had a fall from grace that the media can collectively kick the shit out of when they're down.

All for the almighty clicks.

Incredible speech! Desperate for Vossy to succeed and be the guy who leads us to no.17
Thought it was a great speech myself, looks like there’s been some serious discussions held, clear guidelines put into place, zero tolerance for substandard professionalism or behaviors, everyone is fully aware of the path we’re now heading down…

See how it falls into place, there’s a lot to work through…

Jon Ralph reported a week or so ago that the Saints had been telling clubs TDKs deal was 1.65M.
He wouldn’t have a clue and the saints are trying to hold off the anger from their current players, we have people at the club who absolutely know..shocked it’s not got out yet

Im not sold on Voss but he's been the best coach we’ve had since Ratten (backed up with multiple finals), he’s delivered us the most enjoyable win since the ‘99 prelim being the ‘23 Semi, and the culture has been a lot more stuffed before he came along.
A LOT more.

No one's saying you have to like him, and each to their own, but you cant stick it to others for wanting to believe in him more. He’s definitely a shitload better than that perpetually negative, senile old vampire, Malthouse.

I’m not the most positive bloke here (read my game day rants) but GW is a whole lot different (in a good way) than who we’ve had in the past, being a highly credentialled, and connected football person.

Lets just see how we go before we shit the bed again.

And being the start of trade week, people will be saying "who'd want to be traded to the Blues when the club is admitting to failure?". I can just hear it now.
Would be nice to get back to where a club like ours belongs and bring in some positivity with it.

Broncos just won the flag as outsiders after similar tough conversations and a gruelling army camp that pushed the players hard. It just paid off.

We need to get seriously tough this preseason.
I know nothing about league, but I saw the Broncos coach in a presser this morning and thought he was a no-shit, straight down the line bloke who would get them up.

100%!

Now, who is responsible for these people:

Luke Sayers
Brian Cook
Brad Lloyd

Sayers had a clause put in so he could continue as pres... who supported that?
Cook was sought after because of his stature, not because of his desire
Lloyd was backed and astonishingly given more responsibility after the "external review"

When Voss does inevitably not get renewed next year, it will be seen as another failed decision...

There are 2 people who have played a part in all 4 of these things happening with these people... yet very few mention them...

If we are serious about full accountability across the club, those 2 must resign... but we all know they won't...
