This win wouldn't have been possible without Mr October himself.
Bloody kike Hernandez is an absolute post season Superstar . My god is he built for the playoffs.

There is only one Mr October, and Enrique Hernandez is not him.

Reggie Jackson hit three consecutive home runs on the first three pitches he saw in game 6 of the 1977 World Series.

Reckon series over if the tigers steal this one from the Mariners?

IMO, this is the only division series that I actually think the opposite could happen. Detroit and Seattle are very evenly matched.

2-0 in the three other series and those are series over.

The Athletics announced over the weekend that OF Lawrence Butler underwent surgery to repair a partial tendon tear in his right knee, together with debridement of chronic scar tissue. Butler received a PRP injection into his left patella tendon, under ultrasound guidance, to address chronic tendonitis in his left knee. The Athletics announced that Butler rehab through the off-season in preparation for Spring Training 2026, but did not set a definite timetable for Butler's return to baseball activities.

It had been reported in the final week of the regular season that Butler had been playing through a patellar tendon strain in his right knee and that a doctor's opinion would be sought on whether surgery would be required.

Right hamstring tightness forced OF Jackson Chourio to exit game 1 of the NDLS between the Brewers and the Cubs in the second inning, even though Chourio had already accumulated three hits by that point, as the Brewers crushed the Cubs 9-3 in game 1. Afterwards, Chourio told reporters that he felt good and felt that he was in a position where he was ready to keep going and ready to keep competing. Despite his public optimism, the Brewers sent Chourio to undergo an MRI, which has come back inconclusive.

Accordingly, with the Brewers and Cubs having an off-day in their series, the Brewers had Chourio go through testing to see if he could feel anything untoward in the hamstring. The tests were comprised of runs from home plate to first base at about 50%. According to reports, Chourio appeared to move gingerly, but did not seem to be in any pain during or after the running.

Issac Collins came in to replace Chourio when the latter was pulled from the game, and Collins would be the first man up to replace Chourio if he is not able to play. Collins had a hot streak during the regular season which had cooled off dramatically over the last six weeks of the regular season. After the end of the regular season, Collins finished with a .263/.368/.411 hitting line that included nine home runs over 441 plate appearances (122 wRC+).

If Chourio needs to be removed from the Brewers' NLDS roster for injury, then the Brewers would be able to call up a replacement, and Chourio would not be eligible to be reinstated until the World Series (should the Brewers make it that far).

The Giants have been busy lining up interviews with potential candidates to manage their major league team. According to reports, catcher Nick Hundley is strongly in the mix for the job, but it is unclear whether he has interviewed for the role at this point.

Hundley was the primary backup to Buster Posey in San Francisco for the 2017 and 2018 seasons, and had 12 years of experience as a catcher in the majors all-told. Hundley jumped into an off-field role with the league after he retired in 2020, and then joined the Rangers in 2022 where he serves as a special assistant to president of baseball operations, Chris Young. Hundley won a World Series ring in 2023, with the Rangers, and was a candidate to replace Gabe Kapler at the Giants in that off-season before former president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi hired Bob Melvin to take over from Kapler.

The Giants have reportedly interviewed former Twins, Athletics and Nationals catcher Kurt Suzuki for the role, and it is reported that former Giants bullpen coach Craig Albernaz (now in Cleveland as the bench coach under Stephen Vogt) is expected to get a look for the job as well.

Suzuki would be a controversial hire among Giants fans, given that he wore a MAGA cap during the Nationals' visit to the White House after their World Series win in 2019 and has made no secret of the fact that he is a supporter of Donald Trump.

Posey is not expected to interview any internal candidates for the role.

Atlanta Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos spoke to the media over the weekend to put a bow on the Braves' 2025 season. The focus of the conference was on the decision of Brian Snitker to step down as manager and the impending hunt for a new skipper. Anthopoulos made it clear that Snitker made the decision to resign as manager entirely on his own, and that if had wanted to manage the Braves in 2026, Anthopoulos would not have opposed that decision. Anthopoulos revealed that Snitker is under contract with the Braves through the end of the 2030 season.

As to the identity of the next Braves manager, Anthopoulos has told the press that he has not started to put together a list of potential candidates in deference to Snitker, though he would soon get to that task. Anthopoulos noted that the next manager does not necessarily need to come from within (unlike Snitker, who has 49 years of involvement with the Braves under his belt at various levels of the organisation).

The Braves will be sweating on the decision from shortstop Ha-Seong Kim, who has a $16 million player option for 2026. Kim had a tough season split between the Rays and the Braves, playing in just 48 games and hitting .234/.304/.345, although his output offensively improved after the Braves picked him up off waivers from Tampa Bay. Anthopoulos has said that he hopes that Kim exercises his option to remain with the Braves, and there is a chance that the Braves could simply seek to agree a new contract with Kim rather than pin their hopes on him exercising his option to stay with Atlanta.

The Phillies blew a lead against the Dodgers in game 1 of their NLDS match-up, and they may be without Harrison Bader for some time after he was withdrawn from their game against the Dodgers yesterday with what was first described as hamstring tightness, but was later clarified as being groin tightness. The Phillies sent Bader off for scans, which came back as showing no major tear or strain. Bader will continue to undergo treatment for the issue and the team will know more about his availability prior to the start of game 2 tomorrow.

It was previously reported that future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols was leading the charge to become the next manager of the Los Angeles Angels. However, it seems that he may have some competition for the role, with reports suggesting that Torii Hunter will also be considered for the role. Hunter played 19 seasons in the majors, and was a five-time All-Star, a nine-time Gold Glove award recipient and spent five years in Anaheim between 2008-2012, where he hit .286/.352/.462 in 713 games. Hunter was reportedly a candidate for the role back in 2023, which eventually went to Ron Washington. Hunter was hired by the Angels to be a special assistant to their GM, Perry Minasian, back in April 2024, in which he still continues.

Trey Yesavage pitching 5 innings with no hits, striking out 11...crazy numbers for anyone in the Postseason let alone a kid in their fourth game who was playing Single-A baseball in April. Everyone expect the bullpen pulled together for the Blue Jays today...bring on Wednesday morning.

Seattle’s first playoff win in 24 years. That’s crazy.

They won two wildcard games in 2022 in Toronto.

So yesterday would have been their first playoff win in 24 years at home.

Blue Jays only drafted him last year, and he was pitching in the minors earlier this year. Been a phenomenal rise through the ranks.

The Brewers will welcome back OF Jackson Chourio to their starting nine for today's game 2 of the NLDS against the Cubs after he was cleared of any serious injury to his hamstring. Pat Murphy told reporters that the MRI was "inconclusive" and it is "not a serious hamstring strain", which implies that Chourio has strained his hamstring but it not badly enough to keep him out of the lineup.

The Phillies are currently playing the Dodgers, and they're without OF Harrison Bader in the outfield due to his groin injury, but Bader is available off the bench if required.

The Cubs may have RHP Cade Horton available for the NLCS if they win the NLDS, according to reports. Horton will throw off a mound this week as the Cubs decide whether or not to name him in their NLCS roster, should they advance. Horton made his MLB debut in 2025, and has pitched 118 innings so far for a 2.67 ERA, but he suffered a fractured rib last month that has kept him out of the playoffs so far.

After today's game in Philadelphia, the Dodgers-Phillies series heads back to Los Angeles. Before today's game started, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts indicated to reporters that catcher Will Smith is in line to start game 3 at catcher, replacing Ben Rortvedt, who has been in the lineup for about a month after Smith took a foul ball off his throwing hand in early September.

Smith has hit .296/.404/.497 for a 153 wRC+ when healthy, while Rortvedt (in a small sample size) has hit .500/.571/.667 in three postseason games so far (this contrasts to his .190/.279/.270 across his regular season career).

Roberts also confirmed that RHP/DH Shohei Ohtani will start game 5 of the NLDS, if necessary, and will not be available out of the bullpen before then. The Dodgers have LHP Blake Snell pitching against the Phillies at the moment, with RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto slated to start game 3 in Los Angeles and potentially RHP Tyler Glasnow to start game 4, if required, notwithstanding the fact that Glasnow made a relief appearance in the NL Wild Card on Saturday against the Reds and threw 34 pitches.
