Guys, it’s pretty clear that if Duursma thought there was a realistic possibility a trade could be brokered he would have requested a trade. That is surely unequivocal at this point.

No player wants to be in a position where they formally request a trade but then have to walk back to the Club. That is not good for anyone.

It’s not that he hates the Club or any other emotive language. He prefers to play elsewhere, NMFC would only give him up for something other clubs aren’t willing to offer, so everyone moves on.

I'll wait until the Merrett trade and Essendon flush with some more high picks to spend before ruling this out 100% but I'm happier to see what Zane has in our colours than theirs.

Pretty sure *Essendon ruled that out already.

The fact is, we've been clear as crystal about backing in Duursma. Which I think is a move the club needed to make and should. 👍

I agree totally, just avoiding any curveballs while the window is open before taking that breath.

ESSENDON does not expect to be able to attract young Kangaroo Zane Duursmato the club as North Melbourne said the 20-year-old will be at Arden St next year.

The No.4 draft pick has played just 17 senior games in his first two seasons at North and there had been speculation he could join brother Xavier at the Bombers.

But Essendon list boss Matt Rosa says any move seems unlikely.

"We like his talent, but he's a contracted player so we don't expect anything to happen there," Rosa said on Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio.

Roos list boss Brady Rawlings said Duursma would "100 per cent" be at the club next season.
"We haven't had any request from Zane's management for a trade and we're not expecting to either," Rawlings said on Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio.

"He's got another year on his contract, he's 20 years of age and he's an exciting player." – Martin Smith
