Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

lol, the butters, humphreys etc. rumours are funny.

it's just not happening this year, guys.

we could land those players basically every year from 2019-2024, because we were a big 4 club and had a list that looked like it was ready to explode into its peak. that time has come and gone, we're now one of the middling clubs making up the numbers this off-season, trying to shore up our depth, role players & culture - whilst other teams feed off us.

we will get back to being an attractive club that will land us a butters every few years, but it's not this year.

If Carlton lose Curnow they will have the draft capital and the cash to get Butters if he wants to come. Port would surely be looking at the compo pick the Blues got for TDK and thinking - we could lose Butters next year for 1 pick around 10 or we could do a deal now and get multiple first round picks.

I have no idea if it will happen or not but I can easily see a scenario where it does happen.
Port will 100% match next year. They will still receive multiple first-round picks regardless.

Good. Emerging from this mess as one of the people demanding of standards.
Not to be a Karen and a buzz kill, but I didn’t really like him having a beer in almost every photo he posted or every insta story he had.

Allowed to live his life but drinking just massively affects your body especially as an athlete with recovery. Don’t see much of daicos or Ashcroft for example hitting the piss on their socials.

Demanding standards means you are all in and I wouldn’t classify as what Walsh does almost every offseason as all in

Yep, pure fantasy. We don’t have the collateral to get a deal done even if he was interested, unless everyone is happy to let Cody slide.. Word is Dogs in the box seat at present.
Lets assume we trade Curnow - we aren't doing that deal without getting 2 first round picks and we will be looking to trade our TDK compo so it isn't soaked up by a bid on Dean

So if we are happy to trade a 2027 or 2028 first rounder to get a second 2026 first - I can't see how we couldn't get a deal with Port

Port have said they aren't trading him, and there is absolutely no incentive for them to trade him.
Except the fact next year they could face the situation of either losing him for a mid first round compo pick or paying him $2m when he doesn't want to be there

Port will 100% match next year. They will still receive multiple first-round picks regardless.
Next year whoever they are negotiating with will know they won't pay $2m a year for someone who doesn't want to be at the club - they will be lowballed if they do match.

Doesn't Daicos have an alcohol brand and regularly attends events for that drink

Come on guys
Do you really think we’re in a spot to land a ‘big fish’ ?
I’d rather fill the needs of the team this off season, actually follow through with the ‘no bs’ culture throughout the pre season and into next year and beyond, and then go for the big free agents along with Cody next year.

So Sydney saying Hayward off the table.

It's an interesting situation. We have Charlie saying he'd be happy to be traded, us saying he's contracted. Haywood saying he'd understand if he's collateral in a trade and Sydney coming out and saying he's not for sale and he'll see out his contract, but also we want to pry a contracted player.

Looks like they want to offer a packet of chips for Charlie, maybe a can of Fanta if we're lucky!!

Edit: spelled "hayward" wrong

Swans ruling out Heyward:
"Will Hayward is contracted for four more years, and he will see out that contract. There is not much in those rumours to be honest,"

But barrett pretty confident about CC going to the swans:
"Charlie Curnow, I believe, will be a Swans player by the end of this trade period."

Butters is a Big Fish AND fills a massive need. If we put him Smith and a fully fit Walsh into our midfield next year we look massively different - with Walker to come in 2026.
