Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

"Among his standout games this season was a best afield performance in national colours, against Carlton’s reserves" (from his draft profile: https://central.rookieme.com/afl/player/jake-rogers/)

Ticks all the necessary boxes then.

Seriously though - would take this guy over Ainsworth in a heartbeat. Cost would be an interesting discussion though. Taken at Pick 14 couple of years ago, but hasn't really done much at AFL level yet - he's still in the "potential" barrel.

I'd do something like 21 (JSOS compo) for Rogers and 35. Then 35 could go to WC for Chesser.
6 goals in 18 games - I would be offering pick 53

I can't believe we traded down 3 picks in the 50's!

Good straightforward trade. Move on to the other two targets so we can spend the remaining 9 days talking about Charlie

Might be the worst forward line ever assembled in terms of pressure.

And if Motlop is still best 22 next year we may as well just forfeit the season.
Still bewildered how Motlop got 2yrs.

We’ll be looking at Durdin & Fogarty for their last years in ‘26, Durd’s need to recapture some encouraging form & pinpoint disposal or he’s finished.

Good trade for reiddy.

Happy that Walsh will be taking captaincy-

Given Cripps was reported a couple of weeks ago as saying Walsh was about 2 years from being ready to take on captaincy, does that suggest he is being pushed out of the position?

nek minnit freo comes calling… 😜

I have no inside knowledge other than a whisper I heard about month ago of Cripps chatting with the WA clubs.

It wouldn't be a compete surprise to me if Cripps 'sacrifices' himself and says to the club - "if trading me back to WA unlocks a Butters or Top 2 pick I'm open to the idea."

Cripps at his age is worth alot more to Carlton then what we get in a trade. Nobody is trading top picks for him. Particularly WC who is looking to rebuild. Also, not sure he'd want to swap one cellar dweller for another.

Contracted, highly regarded, still very early in his career. He's a young player just not quite able to break into a pretty settled and effective forward line, and when he does play it's not as a target cause they've got other more established players ahead in the pecking order.

Pick 21 for Rogers and 35 values him around Pick 33 which I think is fair-ish. He suits our needs as a quick, skillful small, the pick upgrade helps GC with their trade targets and/or academy prospects, and Pick 35 is well-positioned for one of our other trade targets.

Pick 53 is not a realistic offer.

Dunno, in the middle for teaching & protection of Harley.

He tore them a new one last season in there.

Agree but I did say 'unlocks' - e.g if he was packaged up some way.

Edit - by the way, after this, watch to see if the 'Cripps open to move' headline hits !!! :D

If Walter isn't on the table and we get Rogers, Ainsworth plus 6 + F1 from Suns, I'd be more amenable to it then Hayward and Florent (who I think we can get easily elsewhere).

Depends what Suns do with Trac, but I feel the pick 7 from Saints for Flanders will resolve that easily enough.

Hayward would be an upgrade up forward though for sure.

Yes please to Rodger’s
At 172 cm's he is actually shorter than me. Has he he got express pace? I cannot recall seeing him play, high draft pick, so obviously has a lot going for him. Maybe Corey could still be traded back to a S.A. team, otherwise we probably have too many small forwards on our list.

The thing with Rodgers is hes not really a forward (where GC have played him) but might be to small to be a mid at afl level. Similar challenges to Durdin but obviously more talented. So, not sure he helps us.

Ainsworth is free and fills a need. Rodgers will cost and doesnt.

How is Ainsworth free? He's also contracted, is established best 22, would require a trade, and is probably earning more than twice what Rogers is on.

Or are we just assuming GC will trade him for nothing to clear cap space?

We have been talking about a Carlton exodus.

But the Suns have a massive amount of players looking at their options
Opportunity.
+ only so much cash to go around with CP arriving.

There is more talent coming in as well, if all goes to plan on their points.

Will always have the vultures picking off the “homesick”.

Disagree on Motts, he is on track for a decent career. I thought he was pretty good this season and would not have been easy to play well,

surrounded by many others who were struggling.
