Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

I think we can all understand why the club is disappointed in EH without going into it.

The ONE question I think we're all entitled to know is WHY is Curnow so 'off' the club? It's the one piece that seemingly no journo wants to learn. He's adored by his teammates & the fan base. He was put into the leadership group and was/is a respected, loved & valued member of the team. Why the sudden 180 degree change in behaviour & attitude??

Voss and the footy dept had one job - keep this guy healthy & happy and we'll get 70 goals a year from him for the next five years, merch & memberships will be as strong as ever - from the outside looking in - they've f****d it up royally.

I want to know why there is a blowup between the club & Charlie and how its happened.

(have been told by one close associate of Charlie that Voss is a poor relationship coach and never speaks to Charlie. IF that happens to be true it's a disgrace we've got the point where Charlie is now 'desperate' to get out.)
I think Charlie must have some level of accountability over his performances. Based on what other player leaders at the club have said, this seems to be a Charlie issue.

lol

“We want Curnow but don’t wanna give anything up for him”

Piss off then
Clubs are still posturing, so I wouldn't take much notice of what is coming out of the clubs right now.

Listening to the interview with the Swans list manager, it sounds like they're fairly confident in getting a trade done, but not wanting to reveal much else. And I don't believe the bullshit for a second where he said that Hayward's comments were off the cuff and the question from the journo caught him by surprise.

Everyone just keeping their cards close to their chest right now.

Agree!

I'm sick of big fish hunting. It's gotten us nowhere for 20 years.

Bring me role players.

What do you mean you're 'sick of big fish hunting'?? When is the last time we've signed a 'big fish'? Judd 20 years ago??

I'd say going after Daniher & Lachie Neale has won Brisbane two premierships...

role players get you to the Top 8 but don't win you flags.

I appreciate that BUT why the sudden change in behaviour? What has led to these 'issues'? He wasn't putting his hand up to be in the leadership group 12 months ago if he was always planning to exit this trade period. Something pointed has happened.

This exactly!
The whips will be cracking by end of week

Well if the reports are right & his manager approached Geelong early this year, whatever happened must have happened last year/off season

Unfortunately - any team is only as good as teh bottom half teh starting 22 - because no one except Brisbane/Suns and Geelong are allowed to have 22 super stars on their books anymore- salary cap is such a boring stopper as Carlton has discovered over the last oh. 30 years or so.

Role players are the enablers who allow the rare match winners to do their stuff- if the stars are busy covering for lame ducks and plodders - they cease being stars and start looking like pretty ordinary players in poor form - very quickly.

carltons problem is not having enough role players in the 24-28 year age group - or nto enough that can stay on teh park - which is why some older role players are being dumped for younger ones with more gas in their tank - this is a rebalancing move so that Carlton isnt hamstrung by a bar bell distribution of ages- half close to 30 and the other half under 24....we need to populate the middle.

Now a serious gun in their early mid 20's is what every team wants - they are rare and rarely trated-0 which is why few teams can attract them unless they have a sweetheart deal offered to them by AFL ambassadorships in franchise teams or the magic wand thagt Geelong seems to have ( cough salary cap cheats cough)

Well said without knowing anything..

“EH has burnt his bridges”
“Charlie is desperate to leave”

Actual reasons required/how/why?
It’s not really clear with Charlie to me, with Elijah it’s crystal clear what happened….i mean missing 4 weeks then 12 weeks is clear as day, next one is goneski

Ed retired at the end of 2023. His 24 and 25 and down on 22/23. Without Ed the club didn't have anyone to keep him in check and motivated.
Seems like someone who can achieve anything IF he wants it, otherwise happy to go through the motions knowing that his natural ability will keep him in the top half of anything he tries.
