It’s in my nature to be pessimistic as I am a lifelong Dogs supporter, but deep down I do agree with you.I think it's past that point. I don't think anything will convince him to stay.
He's had that massive contract from Port for months and he's not signed and he's gone further to approach them enquiring about a move back to Victoria.
I would say the ship has sailed and Port are now in the denial/bargaining phase. Up to them how they want to play it but it's just delaying the pain.
If the dogs can stop the ball flying into defence cleanly and at pace it’ll go a long way to improving things.Norf backing in their current key defenders after approaching the same players as us.

How we perform next season is equally as important. There seems to be too much smoke for him not to leave at the end of next season. But I wouldn’t be totally surprised if he’s still at Port in 2027.
Surely if it’s another poor season from Port that’ll help us.
A lot of water could flow under the bridge if he stays at Port next year. Every Melbourne team and the 'favoured mob' down the Princes Hwy would be scrambling for his signature. Perhaps what seems like us having the front running now could well change dramatically in another 12 months.This. 100%.
Zak knows it, Port and the Dogs know it.
Port have one of the biggest contracts in afl history in front of him as of mid this year and he approached them a few months later asking to see if they’d be interested in trading him home.
They’ll hold him to contract and spend the next year convincing him to stay.
The only thing I’m confident on if it isn’t Port, it’s us. 50/50 right now.
Butters has toured the Dogs facilities.
We need to get the deal done this year.
Hey guys, Cal Wilkie, Sam Collins and Alex Pearce aren't "really good KPD's".KPD's may tend to peak around 25 but the really good ones play well a lot earlier. Buss has been in the system for a long time and hasn't been a standout performer to date. The time to deliver on his potential was really 2025, particularly with Jones being injured early. His window of opportunity is still open but closing fast.
Crows chasing Sanders- Cal
Yep. We take the p*** out of the Saints but they haven't stuffed around, they haven't waited, they've identified their targets and just gone and got them.
We should do the same. Regardless of Port's posturing.
We've missed on Wilkie and Butts, but we can't miss on this one. Must do everything possible to get it over the line this year.
Other contracted players are moving so why not Zak? Why not?
First rounder and Butts thanksCrows chasing Sanders- Cal
If they want to give us something really good for him I'd be open to it myselfCrows chasing Sanders- Cal
Butts and an extra first for ButtersIf it gets us Butts and a high pick I’d be in.
Yep give us Jordan Butts please.Crows chasing Sanders- Cal
Really limited to what we'd get from Crom if they are chasing Oliver...
Saints list and salary cap situation is vastly different to ours.Yep. We take the p*** out of the Saints but they haven't stuffed around, they haven't waited, they've identified their targets and just gone and got them.
