Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

That is because he doesn't lead anymore... Just wants to wrestle and expect a kick to his advantage. When was the last time you saw a 7 goal doggies game from him leading and being unstoppable. He has ro lose size and get quick again.
Harsh. There were plenty of games where Charlie was one of better players despite being double and triple teamed with no notable second tall alongside him. We were one of the worst (or was it the worst?) sides moving the ball inside 50 this year.

Of our developed/seasoned players how many of them improved or sustained their form from 23/24? Hewett, Hollands, Haynes?? Certainly less than half a dozen. I think it’s system based as much as any attitude or application problems.

I don't want to accuse the AFL of stage managing things.

But we are moving through trade week with actual activity.

About 2 deals a day.

Giving media something to talk about.

Makes you wonder if a different approach to managing the information is being pursued.

Alternatively. Dodoro isn't deliberately holding up half the deals
Tf you mean you don't want to accuse. It's just true. They are stage managing. It's a circus with a conductor

If the charlie trade does go ahead for picks and Hayward, then what options do we have finding another ready made KPF around the league that would come to the club during this trade period?

If you don't want to, I happily will forever. Trade period feels as obviously performative and exploitative as I can remember seeing. Having cameras set up for a "deadline day" alongside trade radio tricking itself out for maximum ad revenue feels quite blatant. All they're missing now is a premium fee for service for "advanced insights" for only 9.99 a day on mums credit card...

Agreed. Dude has to actually be bothered to lead instead of waiting out the back of the goal square. When you're less professional in your approach (on field) than Fev, you've got a problem.
Think I've mentioned it a few times over the season. Charlie vs Sydney would be brilliant footage to show everyone again if we could watch an 'all-22' from behind the goals like the NFL offers. Charlie beat triple teams, lead like a mad man, chased, covered. Could've kicked 8-12 goals if his leads were either respected or hit. We just missed him time and time and again or bombed it so the literal 3rd man up could float in. It took 2 to hold him and a third. Whilst the rest of the forward line was literal witches hats. One of those holy **** this guy is the best player on the team by miles but they're too shit to get it to him games. There were about 5/6 leads he was 15 metres clear 30-50 out from goal and the 20-30m pass went over his head or dribbled to him.

Wouldn't be surprised if that was also the game he turned around and said **** this...

AFL did the sums and worked out that the real penalty should be $777,000. Then the Geelong discount comes into play. Thus the end result is a fine of $77,000, $40,000 suspended for two years. Sounds fair enough, Lol.

And that's just the ones they didn't hide well enough, or the ones they left hanging the wind to distract from the real issue.
They picked out a few that were low end value and “let” the AFL find them in their investigation.

Quite possibly the case. He's definitely not alone in his deficiencies and his inconsistent approach to the game likely enfuriates his teammates as much as their poor ball delivery does to him.

There's also the aspects of his game that he is directly responsible for that I can't believe weren't coached out of him one way or another. His game awareness at times is truly dire, playing on at every opportunity, defensive half-efforts, left footed around the corner set shots that end up hitting the belly of the ball, etc. He is a frustrating natural talent. Simply brilliant at times and braindead at others.

The longer the Curnow deal goes, the more the odds are in Carlton's favour. Watch Wright do Curnow and the Swans Slowly
Our worst alternative to a deal, which does not provide us with a chance at securing "A" Grade talent, is we have champion Forward who will give us 3 to 4 yrs good service. Don't worry;he has enough pride in his performance to kick us 50 goals, knowing that is his best way out next year

Swans remain in pergatory without a key forward and Cox will be sweating on his career

I predict Swans will find a way to get us a top 6 pick this year and a first next year, minimum

All this talk about 2 late firsts and no players has run its course. Notice how quiet D'orazio, has been. All Bark No Bite- that Bloke.

And as for Curnow- I can just imagine his missus squealing in his ear about another year of spray tans and pasta on Lygon Street instead of Sun, Surf and Salad resulting in his management pressuring his suitors to pony up.

maybe he played that well to impress his potential future employer?

Disagree - we’re a massive club.

Ensuring we have our ducks in a row for Cody is the issue
Yes we are, along with 4 or 5 massive, more successful clubs.
I'm sure the Cody stuff will sort itself out. We may pay a premium, but so what.
He will be a Blue

Swans Give pick 10 + 2026 1st + Logan Mcdonald
Receive Curnow

Eagles Give Pick 2 + Chesser
Eagles Receive Mcdonald + Swans pick 10

Carlton Give Curnow
Receive Pick 2 + 2026 1st + Chesser
(That is Robey/Dursma + 1/2 Walker+ Chesser)

I expect that is tbe deals essence, if it happens, Maybe Acres or Mcgovern sweetens the deal and the swans work in a 2nd/round pick

Setting aside the specific parts for a moment, the concept of this is brilliant.

Someone like McDonald (or potentially a Rowbottom type) fits WCE much better than us. And I think WCE would value a ready-made player more than we would. And more likely to throw the player(s) big contracts to move across.

Involving WCE means we could extract more value than trading Charlie directly.

I still don't understand not actually taking a punt on a Mcdonald as a 2nd Key KPF. With Charlie gone, wouldn't want to rely on HOK or Kemp taking that role. If Harry is injured we have nobody ready made. Are there any other KPF that you know we could also target?
