Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

St Kilda are a ****ing clown show... basically say that they're taking him and put a price on his contract (I think it was around 650k)... and then nope their way out of it after getting Wilkie to re-sign with them.

Caminiti will return to the forward group, but you can otherwise see why they're looking to move Wilkie on.
Saints aren't looking to move Wilkie on at all, in fact this morning it was mentioned by Saints CEO Carl Dilena that they have added years to Wilkie's contract.

Actually Tarcutta is about half way. But realistically you'd go to Holbrook , get a ham and salad roll at the bakery and meet them at the submarine park. Can't imagine that anybody could say no to you in that scenario.
Should still manage a half hour in Tarcutta to pay respects to all the truck drivers who have last their lives at their wonderful memorial. ☮️

Yes this just filtered through, clearly the trade/contract net difference was not what SOS was hoping for.

Golden handcuffs.
Association football does it all the time. Stay at the club for x number of years of your contract, and we'll pay you a bonus of y dollars. If a higher league club comes in for you before x number of years, we will pro rata your bonus payment based on the years of service.

Not getting Humphrey without a Charlie Deal. Even then, it's going to be tough to get points for Dean, Ison, Walker and trade for Khamis, Chesser, Ainsworth.

Also don't see how we get ahead of the Dean bid and take him. Must be hoping for bottom 4 next year, or Walker to slide dramatically.

*Opinion, not rumour

Jaiydn Stephenson will be training with Carlton over summer.Been given a chance to impress for rookie draft.Been playing in Melbourne Eastern suburbs this season.
Great news, we lose nothing by trailing him and at his best or to his potential is a better small forward than almost all on our list!

Smart move!

An overall hall of the following:

Butters/humphrey, Ainsworth, Haywood, buku, chesser and reidy.

Not bad imo
Fills the age depth requirement for this year. And gives us a quality mid.

Players are feeling the other side to the long term contracts. This is why clubs are open to them, not for the players security, but their own. I think players felt it was great for them - which it is a degree, if you are happy at a club long term then great. But if you're believing you manager who says sign the long term deal, get the $, and if you want to move we can just force a trade through anyway. Sorry, clubs aren't playing that game, nor should they. Players want their cake and to eat it too.

Also, as players salaries go up - and long term contracts (if that continues) - the conversation re-visiting player rights around moving clubs being removed. At some point clubs will be able to move players on. Salaries of $1.5m and up now, even up to $2m, you're getting to the point where justifying that it's not fair to move a $300k salary against their will is gone. I think it will come in initially as over a certain salary - potentially over $2m to start - you can be moved against your will.

I see very, very few of those instances happening, though. Unless they completely fall off a cliff a club wouldn't really have any desire to trade that player anyway. If a club offered something obscene then that would be a dramatic trade, but outside of a Ugle-Hagan type incident i don't see it happening very often at all.

No wonder the saints are paying Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera $2M a year.

He's got one of the biggest names in the world game!
Johannes Vennegoor of Hesselink says hi.

Writing is also on the wall for Stocker given his lack of mobility. Sad career trajectory for him.

EDIT: Never mind, guess they're sticking with Wilkie!
Caminiti, i agree will most likely be swinging back forward although i thought by trialing him in defense, he displayed at times some encouraging signs for a young player…

Wilkie imo still a far better player than Aleer atm…

Stocker most likely is becoming more of a depth defensive player next year…

Apparently GWS were asking for a future 2nd from the Saints, probably a bit too pricey for what we're looking to do this trade period but I certainly wouldn't be against it.
If you throw the lure of coin to entice back it up with the trade price. Get the deal done.

Players beware of the STK LM team.

Disagree, there's room for other players to be sent out, it would just entirely rule us out of picking ahead of a Dean bid, so otherwise the aggregate change to our midfield and forward group would come from Jagga and absorbing some contracts for other teams.

And to be clear to those who will reflexively quote this post, I'm referring to acquiring later picks to pay for Dean, the TDK pick would be used in a Humphrey deal. The Walker moves can still be made mid-year and end-of-year in 2026 through the related exchange periods.

this price is bouncing around - was the offer $650, $700 or $900? does it matter? at $750-$800 its enticing
