Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Our 2026 2nd probably holds more value due to the strength of the draft and the significant Tassie concessions in 2027 which will likely push Sydney's 1st into the 30s.

There will be 7 additional first rounders in 2027, I think it is unlikely the Swans first blows out into the 30s especially with the new DVI and rules around matching bids. There would have to be a heap of band 1 free agents for that to happen.

4 of those Tassie first rounders have to be traded. Having an additional first in 2027 could allow us to move on a later first and a player for pick 5 , 7, 11 or 13. I think the flexibility could be handy in our first draft for 2 years with no elite father son.

But ultimately, Sydney’s 2027 first could be anywhere from pick 1 to say 28, our 2026 second will not be any lower than 19 and could be as high as 40. Give me the first and the death ride in that scenario even if we need to wait 12 months.

Curnow has to be close to 0 chance getting to Geelong and I think the Cats know this. I think they are playing games, doing us a favour or they are trying to manipulate the draft in some way. Either way, it's good for us.

The way I see it is something like this:

Out:
Sydney: pick 11, Warner, F 1st
Carlton: Curnow
West Coast: Pick 2

IN:
Sydney: Curnow
Carlton: Pick 2, Pick 11, F 1st
West Coast: Warner

I can see us adding our F2nd if one of the clubs decides the trade is unbalanced or will we be sending someone like Hollands or McGovern into one of the deals?

Then...

We take our currency and enquire about Butters, mainly with pick 2 on offer. Or we use it in the draft OR we try and split it, a mid first this year that clubs first next year.

Just on our potential outgoing players. Should we be worried that we have heard nothing about Hollands, McGovern or Acres?

I think for anyone to get Curnow, there needs to be an early first involved.

We can scoff and laugh, but what else do we expect from Geelong? Not meant in a bad way, more that's actually about all they can do if they aren't offering players. Throw all their best picks at us - which aren't good enough, and they likely know that, it's just all they have.

A shy at the stumps is about all it is. No thanks.

They can't offer more than that without trading players.

Goes to Swans or stays

Ok I’ve figured it out.

Warner to WCE for 2.

Sydney send us F1

WCE send us Warner and 2.

Simple.

West Coast:

Why would we be involved in any transaction that benefits saint kilda if the end result for us is astronomical?
We couldn’t give a stuff about St Kilda and what they get - it’s all about extracting the best deal for us.
Geelong players being put on the block is a substantial shift.
Despite their offer today, they know that they need to get creative to get Marshall and Curnow. And they are desperate for both.

It goes well beyond the draft picks Tassie are receiving. There will be a lot more compensation picks in 2027 due to Tassie picking up a lot more players than a standard year. They'll also be pre-listing some of the better players as 17 year olds taking a heap of quality out of that draft. Clubs know this and will value 2027 future picks accordingly.
