Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

I’ve refrained from posting this previously but enough time has passed. We made a big offer to him this year.

The last part is not true unless things have changed very recently.

With Wright there, it makes perfect sense. Thanks for clarifying what was in the air that night Fernando.

Just entertain me and say which of these players (not national or rookie draft) are the A-graders for each club in every year. Worth noting what level they were at when they changed list.

Brisbane
2025: Sam Day
2024: Tom Doedee, Brandon Ryan
2023: Josh Dunkley, Jack Gunston, Conor McKenna

Collingwood
2025: Dan Houston, Tim Membrey, Harry Perryman
2024: Lachie Schultz
2023: Bobby Hill, Oleg Markov, Dan McStay, Tom Mitchell

Geelong
2025: Jack Martin, Bailey Smith
2024: n/a
2023: Jack Bowes, Tanner Bruhn, Ollie Henry

Hawthorn
2025: Josh Battle, Tom Barrass
2024: Massimo D'Ambrosio, Mabior Chol, Jack Ginnivan, Jack Gunston
2023: Karl Amon, Fergus Greene, Lloyd Meek, Cooper Stephens

Brisbane have Dunkley, Gunston was no good in 22 or 23.

Collingwood have Houston who was great in previous years but terrible this season. Schultz was good but not great at Freo, he was bad last year, good this year. Hill terrible this year but great in the previous two. McStay done nothing since coming, Mitchell has been a shadow of himself post hawthorn.

Cats have Smith. Henry had an ok 40+ goal year but disappeared since.

Hawks have Battle & Barrass, feels like Battle has improved but Barrass regressed. Notable improvement since moving to Hawthorn from D'Ambrosio, Chol, Ginnivan, Gunston, Amon, Meek, however none were top-liners when acquired.
A-Graders from trades on the lists.

Brisbane
Dunkley, Neal & Charlie / Allan & Draper could reach A Grade in the Brisbane environment.

Collingwood
Houston, Hill, Mitchell & Howe / 2025 put their hat in the ring for Curnow & Oliver

Hawthorn
Battle, Barrass, Gunston, Impey, Ginnivan / Chasing Merrett & Humphrey

Geelong
Dangerfield, Smith, Cameron, Stengel / chasing Curnow & Marshall

What A-Graders do we have on the list from trades?

I’d say Newman

Now the media are saying James Rowbottom is in the mix in the Curnow trade....
What do people think about James....?

Yeah, it’s hardly shocking. But it suggested to me that Wright thinks Voss is good enough unless the one of the top couple of coaches are available.

I think it also lends itself to Wright thinking Fly is gettable, because it's not all smooth sailing at the Pies. Maybe ...

Here is a rumour from left field - Craig McRae to the Blues in 2026. Not sure if he is to replace or support Vossy.

I personally don't believe it, but it came from someone who is highly respected in Australian sport. The bloke has an OAM and a lot of contacts. Not the type I would be expecting to spread BS. He went on to say things are impoding at the Lexus Centre and that Fly and Leppa are at war with each other. This last piece is my favourite part of the rumour!
This will be an interesting BF watch, McRea envy and respect has been a roller coaster here.
New, smiley coach drags Pies off the floor to win a flag(champion coach), oppo coach has a coffee date with beloved Blue(AFL's biggest coach flog)...McRea replaces Voss for 2027(champion coach, ripper bloke).

To the Suns to replace Flanders.

Blues lose Curnow, get Sydney 1st rounder, F1, Hayward and Ainsworth

Sydney get Curnow, lose Hayward, Rowbottom, 1st rounder and F1

Gold Coast lose Ainsworth, get Rowbottom

Get it done Blues!

Love this - you've all got a credit score. Now we're got the official Skadoosh Bluemour Score.

Rowbottom would set a standard and tone within our midfield unit from day 1 of preseason.

I think the likes of Cripps would even baulk at the standard someone like Rowbottom would train at coming from an environment like the Swans.

May not be the most polished acquisition, but I daresay he'd take application for that group to another level.

More than happy to hear there's an implosion happening over there, but I really, really don't want fly at Carlton...

You just need something else going from GC back to Sydney because Rowbottom > Ainsworth

You mean to tell me Patrick Cripps - A two time Brownlow medallist... Is going to baulk at the standard of the Swans 4th string on baller...

Spare us the hyperbole.

I know we keep saying it, but the AFL reallllyyyy cant change the rules now for next year.
Unless they have announced to the clubs and not the public, which is still ridiculous
Exactly. The AFL has had all year to change the F/S and Accademy rules for '26 and not announce them before '25 player trading.
It sounds like a warning for the future, that may not even be required if the previous changes have the desired effect.

Much like he admires the work ethic of this year's JNM George Hewett, yes I believe there is something in bringing in players that come from far better culture than we've been able to breed for the past 10 years.

As Carlton supporters we need to get real about where we're at. We are culturally inept and our standards have been rock bottom for far too long.
