I spent a few years in Melbourne, met my wife there and have lots of close Melburnian family.

But that would be like going back to my old club... who does that?

Actually, who does do that? I know it's happened plenty in European football but have any notable AFL/VFL players returned to their old club? Chris Tarrant is the only one I can think of.
Jack Gunston - returned to the Hawks and won their2025 B&F

It feels like we are that single bloke at 2am in a nightclub. Just happy to go home with whoever now.
It doeskinda feel like that, but there is still about a week to go.
We done nothing really much this week so have to make something out of Nothing
We really do have to make something out of nothing, we have limited list spots, can't do anything with this years picks (due to McCarthy etc), i would like to hold onto next years first rounder, but if they can do something with our F2, F3 and F4, i would be fine with.

But still plenty of time to go.

Cal Twomey on Trade desk thinks Simpkin would be good for us, but he doesn’t think North would be tempted unless it’s a future 1st.

Not at all, tough position to come in a senior line up. But nothing that forces us to give him an extra two years IMO. He could continue to come on next year… or he could not. I like him, I just think he’s still a big TBC simply based on body size so not sure why we’d commit the list spot unless we heard that WA teams were on his ear about requesting a trade next year.
I don't care why they gave him a new contract but am glad they did. There must have been a valid reason, including possible interest from other clubs.
I think Will is going to be a very good player for us.
Being small doesn't stop you, Fly did alright and he's only small.

Billy Picken and maybe Tuddy

I'd say retaining Elliott, Darcy & Bobby are perfect reasons to celebrate.

Where would we be as a club if we lost them?

And we just re-signed 2 promising young players who both debuted this year.
I'm very happy to re-sign them too but let's not kid ourselves - at a time when we really need some serious list revitalisation, the re-signing our best players is the bare minimum that we need to be doing.

Huge exodus from GC. Rosas (4 games) Flanders (23), Ainsworth (24) Budarick (19) Fiorini (18), played a combined 88 games in 2025 and have all opted to leave.

Not to mention Humphrey desperately selling himself around town trying to get out as well…

Are the media asking what’s going on?
I'd want to leave too if Dimma was my coach. He's such a sour puss and creepy too. Even looking at him makes my face scrunch up 😖

Trent Croad. Ablett Jnr. Timmy Watson. Peter Bell. Probably a few more.

I see quite a few young players on our current list who debuted last year or were injured & who will now have another pre-season as revitalisation.

Not sure who else you think is/was available & attainable this year that would have provided any of that revitalisation.

I think Houston will improve in our system next year. Perryman can spend more time in the midfield. A happy Bobby. A fit Jordy.

We made a Prelim with this list, so it can't be that bad as a starting point & with any or all of the above happening. A new assistant coach. New development coach. Tweak our game plan. Some positional changes.

And I'm more than comfortable not going after some of the average players on offer this year combined with a weak draft and then going all in for 27.
